Just put a new set of tires on Rosie. The original Michelins lasted 131,000 miles. Not bad I'd say, and still had tread left. Hope the new Michelin Pilots last another 131,000.

Hmmmm.......22,000 on the '04 and the original Michelins still look great.
49,000 on the '02 and I really doubt they'll pass inspection again in October.
I always thought I was pretty good with the rotation and inflation maintenance.
131,000, huh?
Guess I don't know "Jack" about this stuff.......... any tips?
'Cause, right off the top of my head, the only way I can imagine getting that sort of mileage out of the tires would be to put the car on a trailer and drag it 80,000 miles of the 131,000 behind my truck.
Sooooo we have someone that drives their Bird more than Rick "Worldclasswheels" does.
Strange, as the World Changes. I use to, and well sortof still do, HATE Michelin's. A long time ago, for a short time, about 1 million of us did also. There Rubber Plantation was square in the middle of the "Iron Triangle". ie: a No Fire Zone. Some here will understand.

Well, it's been about 20 years since I've smoked any of that green stuff, and no my wife didn't change the tires without my knowing....it's her car. Yes, 131,000 miles is correct, I will confess they are almost all highway miles as she drives 81 miles to work each day on I-24 & I-75, then 81 miles home....and many miles during the course of the day on her job. I was also amazed they went that long and yes, still had fair tread remaining. She would not drive on bald tires believe me. Wish I still had them, I'd take a pic for y'all so you could believe your eyes.
We'll see how long the new ones last.
Daniel
Daniel,
Amazing tire mileage. Since you have an 05 bird with 131,000 miles, please share your ownership experience - problems, gas mileage, maintenance done or not done such as tire rotation/balancing, oil useage and change intervals, COPs problems if any, transmission servicing. etc.
Thanks

Lets see, 162 miles a day divided into 131,000 = 808.65 days or about 26 1/2 months. If the car was 3 years old when the new tires were put on the average miles per day were 119.63 for 1,095 days. And at an average speed of 60 M.P.H. thats 2,183 hours and 20 minutes or about 91 days behind the wheel doing 60 M.P.H. If She worked 5 days a week that would be 810 miles per week divided into 13100 miles = 161 3/4 weeks but there's only 156 weeks in 3 years. Must've put in some OT. Any way you look at it that's alot of driving and alot of wear and tear on any car, I hope my Bird does as well. Mine is 4 years old with about 1/10th the miles as Daniels. Leroy
