  • Anyone put a dash kit in a Yellow T bird?

    Hello,
I am a new member and was wanting to know if anyone there has put a dash kit in a yellow Tbird with full accent interior? Not sure if wood would look right with all the yellow and black in there! Maybe someone has done this and has a pic or 2!
    thanks
    Steve

"TexasGypsy", I have an '02 blue Thunderbird with full accent which has the same dark grey interior as yours...I installed a dash kit in it which blends quite nicely with that grey. It doesn't really matter if the accent in the car is yellow or blue because the grey in the wood is a very good match with the original vinyl's grey. It's called "Titanium Burl". It's also the same kit that John ("micamaven") installed in his car. Here are a few pictures...
      Hope this helps!

That's THE ONE I want for the NM. 2nd choice is the Piano Black. Aaron has a sample on its way to me, so I can decide.

Hi, Steve... in my 02 blue bird, I installed the brushed aluminum dash kit - I will be taking some pictures soon and will post - I am sure this kit would look just as great in your yellow tbird, as the kit complements the brushed aluminum panels already in your car. It's real "sharp"

Mark, I had a brushed aluminium dash kit in my 'Bird but I had to remove it because the polyurethane coating on it was yellowing and created a rather bad contrast against the factory installed pieces!...It was becoming more and more obvious with time and the last straw came when even my girlfriend noticed it !... I decided to remove it and installed a new one called Titanium Burl (pictured in post #3) ...I just hope yours doesn't yellow like mine did!...It's too bad because it did look great before that problem happened...

Thanks for the heads-up, Claude. I have had my brushed aluminum kit in the TBird for over a year, so far so good. I will post pictures later this weekend. I purchased mine from Exotic Wood Trim which was reasonably priced and very precise in the fitting. Hope the kit stays "brushed" in aluminum colour. Cheers.....Mark

Thanks for the advice and the pics! I did not think the regular wood ones would look good with the yellow interior, but the Titanium Burl seems to do the trick!

I finally downloaded the pictures of my 02 blue bird with the brushed aluminum kit..... by the way, Claude, we both think alike on where we put the TBN wings on the centre dash !!!

2FAST4U, My concern about putting one of these kits on my car is, does it ruin the original finish, if for any reason you decide or the next owner decides to remove it? I owned a 1970 Classic Corvette Roadster before my Bird and after market stuff like this can do more damage in the long run than good as far as resale value goes.
