  • Cool air vent (driver's side).

    Hi there,

First of all, this is not really a major problem but it is a little annoying sometimes.

Has anyone else noticed that because of the shape of the dashboard on the driver's side, the fresh air vent will only move to a certain angle? It is impossible to direct a nice cool stream of air at the left hand side of my face/head.

The center vent is no problem, I can direct that onto my face ok. The side vent misses by just about 2" so it does cool the air down but it won't hit my face as a direct hit.

The passenger side is fine because the dash is flatter on that side.

It may vary slightly depending on the driver's height, I am about 6 ft.

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed this design flaw.

    Gordon.

I agree. I don't think it is a flaw at all. I guess it is as hot as anywhere here in South Florida, but a direct hit from the vent would get real old real fast. On the other hand, I suppose you could get some sort of small plastic piece to deflect the air to get your face all the time.

Just move your head 2 inches to the left. Problem solved.

On a somewhat related note, when driving with the air on and making a hard right turn sometimes I feel a brief puff of warm air! I can't tell where it comes from and I can't make it happen, weird!

Gordon it might be a tad expensive mod, but if you moved the steering wheel to the passenger side it would solve your vent problem and it would keep you tuned up for return trips to the UK.

                Hi there,

Like I said in my original post, this is not a major problem but more of an annoying niggle.

It is definately a design flaw in my opinion. I have owned and driven many different cars both here and in Europe and I have never had another car where the driver's side cool air vent could not be pointed at the driver's face.

Moving your head two inches to the left might be ok at first but would soon be a pain in the neck.

In a car that has a good comfortable adjustable seat and also an adjustable steering wheel so that the driver is able to customize his/hers driving position, it seems weird to have to move your head over in an odd position just to get air on the left hand side of your face when wanted.

I wouldn't want cool air right in my face constantly but sometimes on a long drive, just to help keep fresh and awake, a nice cool stream of air on the face is a good idea I think. Especially here in Georgia when in Summer it gets so hot and humid.

                Just my opinion, Gordon.

P.S. It is this coming Friday that we fly out to Manchester, England. According to my parents, the Summer weather over there is not at it's best so the AC might not even be used.

                All the best, Gordon.
