Blenda and I are thinking of trading our Montego. We had it at the Ford dealer yesterday and were looking at the Focus. We drove one home and returned it this morning. Blenda liked the car very much and we are thinking of buying an 09 SES. Paul and a few other owners chime in and give me the reports.

P.S. We will proable get a silver color.

I'm not familiar with the Focus or the Fusion. However a friend of mine is a General Sales Manager at a local Ford Dealer, I have heard him talking about the Fusion. He actually drives one himself, and has the ability to drive any new Ford on the lot. Suppose to be excellent and leading edge technology in the car. Below is a link you can see all the models, std, features / options, photos, colors, specifications, etc. But like I say, not familiar with Focus or Fusion, was starting to research the Fusion myself as my sister wants me to help her with a new car for my neice heading out college. Just passing this along as something you may also consider if shopping.

      Re: Car Shopping

I got my Wife a new car this year. I got her a 2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ. The car was loaded, V-6 with 6 spd auto with manual shift, Front Wheel Drive, Sun Roof, Leather, 17" wheels, Sat. Radio, On-Star, duel Exhaust, Fog Lights, and Red Jewel Tint Coat paint for about $28,900. It's the North America Car of the year. I have to make her drive the Bird to work sometimes so I can have it for a day. The front wheel drive is the best here in Northern Indiana during the Winter months. It's a great car that we both enjoy driving and we love the style of and get alot of complements from others. My Wife had been driving our 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora for the last 7 years and was used to the V-8 power the Olds had, but insists the new Malibu has all the power the Olds had and handles even better. Alot easier on the pocket book at the pump too. Check one out. Leroy

I think the Malibu is a very sharp car too. I like it better than the Fusion.

Leroy, you did well! The Malibu LTZ you bought is in every way a "Cadillac CTS" with a bowtie instead of a crest and shield. Check out the specs, the two cars are almost identical.

I believe the Saturn Aura is Saturn's version of the Malibu.... I think it actually hit the market before the Malibu. Both are nice looking sedans to me.

I checked out the CTS before buying the Malibu. The CTS with out the 17" wheels, Fog Lights and Optional Paint was $10,000.00 more and yes rear wheel drive. Also the CTS doesn't have a spare tire unless you order it, $250.00 option. The base price on the CTS is 32K and that's a 6 Cyl. with a manual 6 speed trans. But you can't get one, they told me they wouldn't build any unless they had like a thousnd orders. The six speed paddle shift on the Malibu's sterring wheel is OK with me.

If the CTS came with that young lady in the commercial I would find the additional 10K.

We have been offered a great trade on our Mercury. The mercury ACV is about $3000 more than I expected. The reason we are thinking of trading is fuel economy. The focus is a 4 140 hp. fuel range is 27 city and 35 Highway. It is a quite car and a good ride. The SES is a sharp little car. Also it is in a price that is very attractive.

                        Leroy,
The Malibu is a great choice. Saw and sat in one at the car show in Atlanta. This is the kind of family sedan the US auto industry should have been making for the last several years. The interior materials finally look as good or better than most of the imports in its price range and it has a great powertrain.

The Malibu is actually Chevy's version of the Saturn Aura. It's nice to see that there has been no mention of Camrys, Accords, etc., in this thread (so far).
