  • interior storage ideas

I've recently been tossing around various ideas to dispel some of the storage shortcomings on our birds.Thinking back to my Miata days, I remember they had developed a pouch that laid against the wall behind the seats. http://www.mmmiata.com/images/products/MM035.jpg
Theirs snapped in using existing snaps for the convertible boot. I think this concept could still be utilized for the Tbird. Maybe separate pouches could be sized to fit one behind each seat. With no existing snaps to take advantage of, could it be velcroed to the carpet? I think designing one as a CD storage case would be a great idea. Anyone out there already tried this or seen one?

Never given much, if any, thoughts to your idea but it sounds reasonable. I know that when installing my amp I noticed that there is quite a bit of space under the shelf behind the seats. Do not know what impact, if any, there would be structurally but it would have been a nice cubby if the designers had made the shelf to open thus providing storage underneath.

A saws-all and some nice chrome hinges & latch..... I'll bet a very nice storage area could be made in the area behind the seats and under the package shelf.

Or....hinges on the inside and magnet attached to inside wall and door, so no hardware shows at all. Would be interesting to know exactly what is inside that shelf and if the space could be put to good use. (I know when you pack like Sally does, everything but the kitchen sink, then you really need that extra space....ha, ha!!... gotcha Sal! )

Actually, with all the thinking and planning on how to use every available space possible, I'm surprised no one has thought of this before. Although most members here won't do anything to the car that is permanent, and can't be put back to original condition if desired.

Julie! What a great idea! You're a genius!

I'd be willing to bet I can find a small sink that would fit in the trunk cubby! Install some rails with rollers...just slide it in and out as needed. I can think of a few practical uses...no need to carry a wash bucket for cleaning your Bird...what a waste of space!

Now the project I'd like for you handy men to work on is

          A TRUNK Ssstrrreeetttcher!!!
