  • Billet Grille from Mr.Grille ??

I Purchased a billet grille from Mr.Grille. Has anyone else purchased the billet grille from this place? I had a body shop install it but it came up short on each side.I sent it back to Mr.Grille so he can check it out.

He tells me that the body shop is not installing it correctly. The front facia must come off to install.Anyone else have this problem?

He is sending the grille back and we are going to try again.

I have talked with David (BlackShadow)..I know his fits and looks Great.

    Thanks,
    Ed

      John....

it looks good...Did you keep the foam behind the grille? or did you get rid of it.

The front MUST come off completely to put this billet in. The size of the billet itself was exact to the opening of the grille which was very impressive to me since I had a very bad experience with another type of grille from a west coast outfit. That grille was a disaster in terms of fit.

This is how it looked with the front end off.The Body shop tells me that there is nothing to clip the grille to with this much gap...

Mr.Grille (Dave) seems like a nice guy.....We will try it again...

I would be sending that back to Mr. Grille with a labor bill from the body shop. If he's a nice guy he'll send you a check.

E...........the shop took the foam away. They also had to paint black some small screw marks across the grille on the inside. I am sorry to see what you are showing us here. What a terrible fit. Its hard to believe that its the same grill as mine.

Dave and John...Did you guys have your grilles installed at a body Shop?

Would it be possible to see if they experienced this problem (gap on sides) when installing yours.

I would hate to take it back to the body shop, have them break it down and still tell me that it can't be done.

If you can find out, I would really appreciate it.

                  Thanks!

From the looks of the pictures it looks to me like they've traced the outside dimentions of an existing grille instead of the inside. Leroy

Sorry it took me an extra day I got busy . I talked to the guy at the bodyshop that installed mine and he said everything needs to come apart to install this grille. Front Clip does need to come off the bird headlights need to be uninstalled etc. He said the Grille should fit perfect that most billet grilles are precision made these days. I know I told you I only paid 100.00 to get this installed My friend told me he did it for me at that price because were friends that installing it is quite a bit of work and will cost more than that for the average body shop customer. Sorry this has become such a hassle for you but if its any consolation if you go through all the BS involved here and get it installed I think you will be happy. If it was me I would move forward and if it still doesn't fit contact MR GRILLE again Mine required no modification or adding of tabs or anything like that My body shop said to follow the directions that come with the grille and it should fit perfect. Sorry for all the drama with this Ed Best of luck to you and keep me posted on how this works out.

Re: Billet Grille from Mr.Grille ??

I would ask MR GRILLE to send you a different grille, not the same one back, that way if this one is defective somehow, you'll be starting fresh-with a brand new grille You might also consider a different body shop these guys should know how to install this they should not be guessing how to do it or asking what the procedure is to make it fit The fact that there unsure how to do this would make me reall uncomfortable if this was my bird
Just so you know Ed the shop that installed mine took my car in the morning and I had it back by about 2pm my advice get the new grille and find a shop that when you tell them what you want installed they say NO PROBLEM Maybe try a custom shop GOOD LUCK ED

Is it possible that the bumper is distorted being off the car and once put back on and everything is attached and back in place the gaps would go away. Just a thought.
