The grille was sent with No instructions and No bracket kit.Had the body shop take apart EBird Twice.
Mr.grille did send a bracket kit two weeks later, only to be lost by UPS.
The second kit came with the instructions...Grille In....
After almost 3 1/2 weeks, two times to the body shop, finding a way to and from work for a week , I have asked Mr.grille for some compensation.
I asked him what he thought would be the right thing to do.
That was Four days ago...Still Waiting.
If he had sent the instructions and bracket kit the first time, this would have been a smooth install.I had no idea that there was a bracket kit or instructions. The Grille was shipped to me by itself.
Hello - This is Dave from Mr Grille. I would like to put my two cents in...
Ed purchased the grille from us and we sent it out to him. It was a special order because it was all black so I do remember the grille. It was confirmed here that the grille was packaged with the installation materials and instructions. The instructions were lost somewhere between here and the installer that Ed chose.
The installer that was used was less than competent. He sent images to show how the grille was not fitting. The bumper fascia was sitting on the floor or a table. The bumper is very flexible by itself and was out of shape while the installer held the grille in place.
Ed asked to send the grille back because it was cut incorrectly. I told what could be going wrong and to make sure before he sent it back. He stated that he was already sending it back and that I would be receiving it shortly.
After I received the grille and checked against the patterns here I told Ed that it was cut fine and that, in fact, it was the installer that did not know what he what doing. I told Ed that we could keep the grille and refund him the money. He asked that we send it back to him and he would try it again. We did send the grille back (at our expense) and he took it back to the same installer. I did recommend that he take it to someone else as I did not feel comfortable with the installer that he used first.
He later asked that we send new hardware and instructions. He said that we never sent them before. Instead of arguing about it we sent new instructions and hardware.
After the grille is installed and everything is done Ed decides that we (Mr Grille) should help pay for his installation. Ed stated that we did not send the kit and instructions (not true) and that he had to pay the body shop extra and that he had to get alternative transportation while his car was there. He stated that we should give him all of his money back on the grille to make up for the body shop fees and the other car.
First of all we are not and can not be responsible for the work that the body shop does nor can we be responsible for a rental car. It's absurd to think that would be the case. With Ed's logic we should give him the grille for free on top of paying for the shipping (x3). While that would be great for Ed it would not be good for us. I'm trying to run a business, I have employees to pay and a family to feed.
Ed stated that we should give him his money back or he would go to ebay (it was sold through ebay). Since we did not give the money back he left us negative feedback and filed a dispute that stated the item received was significantly not as described. Thanks to those two items ebay has suspended our ebay account so we will no longer be selling on ebay.
On the positive side - we were looking to move away from ebay prior to this. It's just sad that a "person" like Ed was the reason.
We produce a good product but it's not idiot proof.
After reading this whole thread, I think Dave (Mr. Grille) certainly acted appropriately and responsibly based on both his and your account of what occurred Ed.
I noticed a number of other people here were questioning the work of the body shop you had doing the install. Personally, I'm kind of thinking that's where a lot of the problems occurred as Dave (Mr. Grille) certainly seemed to be responsive to your requests for help when needed and more than one TBN member who was familiar with the work was questioning the installers competence as well. Seems like the problem was more related to the installer than the product itself.
Bottom line Ed is that the grill is finally installed and it looks great.
It was like I stated...Once the body shop, who has been in buisness for over thirty years, received the bracket kit and instructions..Had my car ready to go that same day.
If a Vendor sends you something incomplete and you are not aware that it is incomplete, the Fault must go back to the vendor.I am Sure they did not do this on purpose.
bottom Line..Kit and instructions should have came with the original Order. Why did he not ask when I sent the pictures the first time.
It looks to me that the entire grille is mounted too low in the opening. The install shop should not have to create new brackets. Collectively the shop does not seem to be installing with a full deck.
Roger,
I agree the shop should not have to create new brackets. If they sent the kit in the First place.
How would you have installed it with No Brackets? What would you have done?
Do you like throwing away $150? The Body shop, primarily FORD did not make the grille.I was only asking for 1/2 of the Labor.
I must have plotted this whole thing...Read the Thread it's all there.
Makes No Sense !!
I just wanted him to do what was right! We as consumers sometimes have to just get the shaft from buisnesses like this.
Sorry...
Ed
Ed –
Just to be clear… you did mention something to me about the clips either on the phone or in an email. I pasted one of my earliest responses below and then your response to that.

07/03/08 Hi Ed,
When installing the grille, the clips/brackets must be installed to the bumper fascia itself first. After all of the clips are in place the grille is installed on the clips. After you have a chance to compare our grille to the OEM grille please let me know what you think. If you think it’s not cut correctly we’ll get the grille back here and check it out. It is possible that the grille is cut correctly and the installer was taking the wrong approach to the installation. If it looks like it’s cut correctly I can speak directly with your body shop to make sure they’re understanding everything correctly. Let me know what you think once you’ve had a chance to check it out.
Thanks, Dave

07/04/08 Dave,
This exactly how the shop was trying to install. Not enough grille to clip to. I am going to ship it back Tomorrow for you to inspect. I just would like a grille that will fit correctly. We can figure out the rest later. I am shipping it to the address on the box, to your attention. Please keep me posted.
Thanks, Ed

I’m not saying you “plotted” this turn of events. I’m just trying to uphold our reputation. I helped you as much as possible. I tried to work with you and keep you happy but I now feel it was a lost cause. Unfortunately we can’t please everyone.
I guess I’m lucky your car wasn’t scratched while it was at the body shop… you might be asking me to pay for a new paint job because we sold you the grille… Sorry, that was a little unprofessional, just trying to lighten the mood.
Ed, I wouldn't have never let the body shop tear into my car to install a aftermarket item, unless I was confident of how it was to be installed and I was confident the installers were too. I do agree it was Mr. Grilles responsability that the instructions and hardware were not in the package with the grille, but you should've never let them start without them. By the way, the grille looks great, it gives the car that custom look. The only thing I would be concerned about is keeping it clean of bugs that hit it. Seems they would really show up on a black grille.

If unsure how the grille goes in.......if it's shipped with no instructions....
EBird......I have to ask.
Why would you not have contacted MrGrill, for clarification, BEFORE handing the job off to the body shop?
I'm not saying there wasn't incompetence on the part of the vendor here, although that requires me to take your word over his on the issue of instructions included or not, but still will you admit to a little giddiness over good sense here?
I'm getting the impression that one of 2 possible things went wrong here.
1. You lost the instructions when unpacking.
or.....
2. You let your enthusiasm for this GREAT LOOKING PART cloud better judgment.
Either way though........it's in .......it looks GREAT and honestly your argument seems to be with an incompetent body shop when I read the account of all this.
These people are CHARGING you for their work. If they don't know what they are getting into they really should tell a customer.....
"Sorry but with no instructions and no experience with this install we can't guarantee any price or satisfactory result"
These guys really should have turned your job down the first time, IMO.
The odds of an unhappy customer were too great and it's only good luck for them that you've chosen to make a scapegoat of the vendor instead of the body shop.
