Re: I'll be Birdless for a while

      Good and bad news.

Good news: Got the Bird back Thursday August the 24th. The frame was not bent. Therefore the final bill was lower than estimated. A little over $7,000.00. The body shop told me they used all new parts except for the front bumper cover.

Bad news: Will have to take it back to the body shop next week for some adjustments of the fit of the hood and some buffing of the paint. There was a lot of haze in the paint. Took it in today at lunch so they could see what I needed.

Will post pictures later. Looks almost brand new.

Re: I'll be Birdless for a while

No I am not driving it to Vegas. Don't want the bug splaters to mess up the paint job. The body shop said not to wax the front end for at least 90 days. Also not to use an automatic car wash that uses those rotating brushes. Only hand washing, if possible. So I will be sharing a ride with Bill Green. (Cuts the gas bill in half)

Got the Bird back from the body shop on Wednesday (Sept. 10th) Had to drive it home in the rain. It looked real good before I left the body shop. Paint is OK. Hood has been realigned. Washed it today. 99% pleased with the work. Here's a picture of the Bird after I washed it. Will have to get a new grille badge and a new front plate.

                    Roy,

Glad to hear you got your car back! Hope that 1% doesn't drive you crazy. If it does - just sell it and get another. There are a lot of low mileage replacements out there so there is no reason to not be happy.

It looks great from the picture. Try to keep it in as much as possible until that paint cures and you can get a fresh coat of wax on it.
