The U.S. goverment allows big corporations to buy these so called polluter cars. For every car destroyed, big companys are allowed pollution credits for every old car removed from the road.
Big companys are allowed a get out of jail card so they can pollute more with no fines.
As an avid classic car enthusiast whose done many restorations, I hate to see these old cars go to the crusher if they can be restored or at least used as a donor parts car.
However, I don't see many useable parts left on this particular 59 Thunderbird and it's no where complete enough to be a good financially feasible restoration candidate. You can go out on eBay right now and find other 58-60 era squarebirds that would make much better restoration candidates for less than $1,000.
