  • T-Bird Trunk Rack

I just got an Email from Thunderbird Concepts about a new SS trunk rack for our Birds. It doesn't require any drilling or any modification to the trunk lid and can be easily removed when not needed. It's not on the market yet but will be soon. They have a picture of one on their site on a car, but it's not a T-Bird. They also have a close-up of how it attaches to the trunk lid. It might be just what some owners are looking for to hual more luggage, weather permitting. Leroy

    Re: T-Bird Trunk Rack

Are you kidding me? The Thunderbird’s trunk makes it necessary for my wife to only pack what is absolutely needed and nothing else. This saves fuel from not have extra lbs for the engine to pull around and it saves my back from not having to haul to the hotel room luggage filled with what if items. A luggage rack would tempt reverting back to bad packing habits and thus should be banned.

Leroy, I got the same email, and I signed up for the notification. While I don't particularly like the idea of a trunk rack on either of my Birds, it probably would come in real handy if you had a flat tire!

The trunk has AMPLE space. We traveled for 3 weeks in Aug. 02 from Palm Springs to Chicago and back on route 66. Even took our 2 feather bed pillows. Tweetie

          Re: T-Bird Trunk Rack

I spotted a white '03 bird with a trunk rack when I was in Tulsa last week. It didn't look bad at all. I personally wouldn't want one but it was not obnoxious at all and I wouldn't classify it anywhere near my least favorite mod that I have seen done to a T-bird. I talked to the car's owner for a minute and told her about TBN but did not discuss the trunk rack.

Had one on my 69 Vette Vert, Actually it looked pretty good. Only remember using it once. I like the idea of having a special one for the T-Birds. Never know when It might come in handy. You know, on a road trip and your wife spot's a sale somewhere. Well now you'd have a place for the item. PLus it's CHROME!!!!!

I got the same email and signed up for the notification. I'm sure I'll get one, may never use it, but I'll have it if needed. Waiting till you need it to find one is to late. Being able to put it on and take it off is a real benefit. Not my favorite thing to put on my car, and like 2k2BIRD stated, I've seen worse modifications on some Thunderbirds. Lots of cars in the 60's had luggage racks on the trunks, Corvettes, Mustangs and others. Some actually looked good.

....I'M THINKING BEING THE BIRD IS A 2 SEATER, ON A LONG TRIP IT MAY COME IN HANDY TO HAVE MY WIFE SIT IN THE RACK WHEN SHE STARTS BUSTING CHOPS....

I agree with Lonestar!! Plus once she has packed for the trip that means she is also limited to the shopping to bring back home.

I originally felt that way, but my wife knows about UPS.

I will reserve judgement till I see a picture of what it looks like on a T-Bird

A bungee cord is good Lol ................It will already have an airbag

You can tell she never comes in here........or I'd be in big trouble
