Same thing is happening here on the West Coast Ed. They put up closed for re-modeling signs and a few weeks later we see signs in the window posted by the tax collectors office or the I.R.S.. Things are getting tough all over.

            Re: Ford closing dealerships

Mullinax Ford in South Florida, Trying to desperately clear their 2008 inventory, stating their 4 locations in Florida One of their dealerships is about 20 minutes from me, has been having extended length advertising, taunting their large size, all sorts of "ratings" from J.D.Powers, on and on, customer comments witrh their letters posted on air, extended coverage of the current models, including each and every model, segment on all the financing and rebates, their certified program, listing on all their autos with gas milage, the Hybrid, segment on buying American, safety features on each model by Ford, their pricing, their no dealer fee, just kept going. The commercial was 15 minutes, it repeated 2 times back to back 30 minutes from 4 to 4:30 PM. Sounds like they are desperate to push sales, probably hoping not to be one of the next closings. They are calling it their 800 Clerance Event, trying to sell 800 vehicles this month, state their 2800 vehicle inventory. Maybe I'll check out a 08' Mustang Conv. to help keep my miles down on the Thunderbird. No telling what that cost them. At the end it stated that it was a fully sponsored paid program.

Sounds like their financing Bank for their "floor plan inventory" may be puting the squeeze on them. IF so, You'll make your best deal on models that have been there the longest.
