Ok! Maybe I'm not done with the mods. I was thinking of adding the V8 emblems but not sure of my choices. I see the Thunderbird Concepts design but are there any other ones available anywhere?

    ps.

ah yes, look around the gallery. You'll find a lot of us, like the Original 55 V-8 Shovelhead Emblems. Available at most reproduction sites. I think I got mine from in Washington State somewhere. Larry's T-Birds, maybe ??, I'll have to did out my books.

        Gary,
Some of us have used the emblems from the '55 Bird. Adds a nice retro touch.

Here's a set of old Thunderbird emblems on eBay right now:

          The price seems reasonable.

Be careful. Be vewwy, vewwy careful!! My original '55 V8 shovelhead emblems were in the process of being stolen (scraped) off Goldilocks a few weeks ago resulting in a very expensive repaint to the left quarter panel. Doubt that would have happened if I had the other V8 emblems (which is what I will replace the '55's with).

Those are the exact emblems I used. I cut the studs flush off (using a Dremel) and applied 3M tape to the back. I also repainted the red inserts the same color as the inserts in our bird emblems. Looks better against my Thunderbird Blue. This price seems a little high however, I ordered mine online for $12 ea. plus shipping.

As far as having them stolen and the car getting damaged, it can happen no matter which emblems you use if someone wants them bad enough and is a beast at removing them.

Word is that the teenage gang members like to use the '55's as belt buckles. The guy that was trying to steal mine was scared off by a passer-by. The regular V8's on my other Bird are quietly obscure...don't scream "HI THERE! - TAKE ME!"

                  Re: V8 Emblems

There are also the V8s off the Jaguar - a little smaller than the 03/04 v8.
The explorer has a v8 that harks back to the 30s style - V with the 8 superimposed on top. Both available thru Ford or Jaguar dealers.

I attached the neat 2005 Explorer V8 tailgate emblems on my 2002 Bird front fenders - Part number is FMC 1L2Z7842528NA, NAME PLS, 12.09 each.
No drilling required, just peel off the tape backing, carefully line up and stick on.

Here's mine, they are cast white metal and chromed. Had to take the rear posts off and use two layers of 3M tape - 1933 Ford truck and still available

                            Re: V8 Emblems

Does anybody know the correct position (if there is one) where the emblem should be placed??? I looked at some of the pictures in the galleries and they seem to vary quite bit. Just wondering if there is a standard??

                            Thanks

no standard... look at dots site to see where the factory placed them on the 03 and 04 birds
