I used Dennis Carpenters badges and unscrewed the posts and filled the backs with epoxy resin to flatten it out. I then used 1 layer of 3M adhesive to attach to the car.

3 layers of 3M tape will work as well as the above.

I also like the simle clean look of the two that came on our 2003. The only mod I have done is to order one more which now sits on the rear and I think looks pretty good, as though it was meant to be there.
I hope you didn't pay much Gary. The reason it's a cleaner look is that our '02's didn't have V8 emblems Your Black Bird is beautiful!
Actually, there were 2 years which didn't have the V8 emblems: '02's & '05's. I've had a set of the '55 emblems in my work shop for over a year to add to the Bird, but just haven't finished them yet.
I've not been thoroughly satisfied with the V8 shovelhead emblems I put on last year. The red paint has needed touching up several times after peeling away. Now the chrome finish is looking pitted and weathered. I'm pleased with their appearance when new-looking, but they will have to be replaced soon. I am contemplating switching to something different if a better quality shovelhead is not available. Has anyone used the emblems pictured below? I recently spotted these on a '55 - '57 Fairlane (don't recall which year). I'm not sold on the style yet.
I agree with the poor quality of these emblems. The chrome is of a poor grade and look pitted. Probably because they are made in China.
Has anybody found them manufactured in the US?

Those emblems are cool, Kevin. Haven't seen them before. Any idea where to purchase them? Maybe Dennis Carpenter?

Marilyn,
At one time Dennis Carpenter did carry the 56 Fairlane emblems. I tried to order a set but they were out-of-stock. Last I checked, they were not listed as being avail any longer. BTW, they were a good bit more expensive than the 55 shovelhead design. Some other restro suppliers might carry them, but I haven't checked in a while.
