I saw this featured on My Classic Car show and it looks like a lot of fun. I was thinking about riding my motorcycle down to check it out and then it hit me. Why not take the bird. After all it is a car gathering.

We went back in 99 - fun but they limit registration to vehicles 1980 or older. However, that doesn't stop you from cruising the coast with the other cars or looking at the cars in the different shows hosted along the route.

Rick - I'm definitely going! This is one classic car event that I won't miss! Literally thousands of cars, every make, model, year and option you can imagine will be there. Lots of newer vehicles as well. As was mentioned, registration is only open to certain model years, but this show is all about the cruisin'! 26 miles of white sand beaches, tens of thousands of locals and visitors lining the streets, live concerts and shows in every community along the coast, from Louisiana to Alabama...the list goes on & on. You'll especially want to check out the scheduled events in Ocean Springs. I lived on the coast prior to moving to GA & I go back every year for Cruisin' - it's just one of those experiences. Last year I cruised alongside a few other retro birds, and saw several more taking part. Now I just have to decide if I'm going in my torch red, or my wife's light ice blue...somehow I'll bet she makes the decision for me.
Let me know if and when you're going & maybe we can get together for a little while...anyone else out there going?

I've got it on my calendar and the wife has agreed to let me take her T-bird. She has no interest in cars so I get to go and be the gearhead that I am.

Right now I'm thinking I'll drive down and arrive on Thursday. Then head back to Dallas on Sunday.

I'll check back with you as it nears and see if we can meet up.

Okay, the only thing stopping me now (I hope) is the weather. If weather.com shows that heavy rains are not expected I'm headed south. Speaking of places to stay. Am I crazy thinking I can find motels in the area? I will pm you my cell phone.

Better make some reservations....most of these attendees come each year and make their reservations waayyy in advance. The good thing is anything along the coast is in prime cruisin' zones since these guys go nearly from state line to state line. I'd stay anywhere along interstate 10 or south. It's that time again.. Cruisin the Coast is coming up October 4-11th along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. If you're a classic, antique or muscle car fan you really don't want to miss this annual event. It's one of those events that once you go, you'll be back It's nice if you can check out all 9 days, but most of the action takes place the last 4 days (Oct 8-11).
I know several members have been before, Rick (dallasblackbird) went last year, so I was wondering if anyone else was planning on attending and maybe we could arrange some kind of meet-up. I know lots of car clubs get together to cruise there, why not nesters? Nothing formal, just some of us gathering at a central location & cruisin' together. My plan currently is to head to the coast on Saturday, Oct 4th and stay for the week, hitting as many events as I can and putting lots of cruising miles on my Bird.

I went last year on my Ducati motorcycle and had a great time. It would have been SO much more fun had I taken the T-bird. I hadn't thought about going this year, but I'll put it on the calendar and might just make that my first trip with the bird.
