Joe, I just looked out in the garage at my Thunderbird Blue LadyBird and tried to imagine the color combination you are referring to. It just didn't appeal to me, I think I would prefer the reverse.
I guess I just prefer the darker of the two colors on the bottom and the lighter color on top.

Mmmmm, that would be a winning combination in this town. Thunderbird blue is called "Carolina Blue" hereabouts & when paired with white, they are the university's school colors.

Will, wouldn't DSB work better for Tar Heels? TB is more of a teal color IMHO.

There is a 03 DSB here in Raleigh with a performance white top that is the UNC-Mobile right down to the license plate.

You're probably right. Like a lot of young fellers of European ethnicity, my color vision is a little off kilter. I see colors that most people can't see, or they see 'em wrong. As long as I can keep red/yellow/green sorted out I'll be okay . . . & so will the rest of the driving population.

Joe, Alison and her husband now have that combo. He recently bought a WW, and put teal pinstripe down the side. IMO, her hardtop on his, and vice versa, will look GREAT! As soon as the weather changes, they'll probably exchange hardtops, if not only for a photo shoot. I'm certain she will be happy to send you a pic.
