  • 48 in 08 Atlanta, Georgia

Took a chance today and drove out to the hotel where I knew the 48 in 08 caravan owners would be staying. I was fortunate to find two of the cars parked in the parking lot and within about 5 minutes both of the owners came outside. I spent a short time talking with Lucy (Coral Bird) and Bill (Red Bird), what nice people they are. The green Thunderbird was missing and I believe the owner was out trying to hunt down a new radiator for it.
If you get a chance to catch up with these folks, I think you will enjoy visiting with the owners, they sure have a lot of fun stories to tell of their trip around the United States. The cars have traveled close to 12,000 miles now. Tomorrow they will have their picture taken in front of the Capitol building in downtown Atlanta, along with another 30 to 30 Baby and Retro Birds joining them.
Their next scheduled stop is Tallahassee.

Awesome pics! I'm meeting them in Montgomery this weekend when they pass through there, after their visit to Florida. May cruise part of the way to MS with them as well. Looks like some beautiful cars and some great people to meet!

You will enjoy meeting up with these nice people Bobby, and the cars are beautiful.
Hey, how bout this, I made mention in 48 in 08 journal:

          "Day 47, Tuesday, Sept. 9
Easy drive from Columbia, SC, to Woodstock, GA. Overcast most of the day with some fog.
Met James Kahrs at Exit 114 in Athens, GA, and he led our little birds to Georgia Classic Restorations in Woodstock for our oil changes. Art Guilfoil was waiting our arrival in Woodstock. A special thank you to the Atlanta Classic Thunderbird Club for picking up the tab for the oil changes on three (3) classic Thunderbirds!
While at our hotel, Julie stopped by in a beautiful Thunderbird Blue Retro Bird. She heard about the tour on thunderbirdnest.com. Thanks for stopping by, Julie.
In the evening, members of the Atlanta Chapter gathered at the Guilfoil's home for dinner and delicious desserts. The ladies of Georgia prepared the desserts and Art prepared the main course - Low Country Boil. The Atlanta Chapter also made a donation to McPherson College. Thank you, again!"
