  • Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

Hello, I am a newbie to this forum, I do not have a T-Bird but I am considering purchasing one...however, I am an avid golfer, and the big crucial requirement for me is that I am able to place a full set of golf clubs in the trunk....even better, can you fit TWO set of clubs?

If you can, is there any room left over for misc items (shoes, etc.)?

Thank you so much for your replies.

    Dorsey in Seattle.

Just barely. I have to put mine in at an angle, and load them head first. Two sets would be tricky.

Thanks for the reply, Phil. That's a shame. It would be so bitchen to show up at the clubhouse in one of those T-Birds.

I wonder if you could put a set in the back seat if the top was off? Then you could get one in the trunk and one it the back.

I am not a golfer but I assume there are golf bags and then there are golf bags. Then there are clubs for people 5'6" and people 6'5". However, I believe it was a 2002 dealer poster, mag ad, or something that showed a guy and gal getting 2 bags of clubs out of the trunk of a thunderbird. I am sure someone has the picture I mentioned and will post or direct you to it.

Of course, you could take your clubs and see for yourself if they fit in the trunk when you find a Thunderbird you like.

I remember the same picture / marketing as Lonestar, In fact, if I remember correctly, it was one of the design goals during development to be able to carry 2 sets of clubs. Part of the demographics Ford was targeting with this car.

Two sets will fit. Mine & Charley's. We don't play as often as we'd like, but both sets fit, and the first time we tried it was in Goldilocks one week after I got her in '05. Since then, both sets have been in Moondoggie a couple of times. Our golfing hasn't improved, but the club members sure do like the Birds!!!

Forget the golf clubs. Pack a whole bunch of Kroger grocery bags filled with clothes and head out to the next TBN event in Vegas.

Hey Dorsey golf is a good game and a lot of fun, but get your priorities straight. THe excitement of driving a TBird down the road and getting the thumbs up and big smiles from people is a tremendous feeling that never ends cause it just keeps happening.

I remember this also. It was not only a goal but a directive. I'm not a golfer so I'm not an expert, but there must be a way of getting two bags in there if they are "normal" sized - whatever that means.

As long as you don't have oversized bags, no problem with two. Mine go in with the pull cart, just pop the wheels off and shove them in a corner. Easier to load if you take the drivers out of the bag first.

I have two carry/stand bags, and they both fit fine, with some extra room.
Changed to a larger cart bag, and my son has his Titliest stand-bag and they fit with a bit of adjusting... still have room for shoes and some stuff. You will learn to be creative and learn to pack well. They people at my club remark how pretty my Bronze or Thunderbird Blue bird is. been driving one up there since 2002, and always someone is there that wants to comment or look. It is sooo cool...!

So just GO FOR IT...! You will never regret it.....!

2 carry bags fit no sweat. Not so sure about two full size tour bags ... or Rodney Dangerfield's bag from Caddyshack. Taking the driver (and long putter) out first helps. Otherwise, I put mine in club heads first ... you can create a little room because you can slide them all the way over to the side.

Be prepared for members of all ages to stop and stare. Everyone will know you! Now you can enjoy driving down the fairway and the freeway!
