Ah ha! So there is both a soft top and a hard top model? (I'm sorry.. that is such a newbie question.) Hey, I'm new...

For everything you ever wanted to know about the T-Bird go to Dot's web site http://www.portholeauthority.com/ I spent hours on there getting to know every detail until I narrowed down EXACTLY what I want. She has pictures of every car, tells you every combination available and anything you ever wanted to know.

Of course my personal favorite is the 2002 T-Bird Blue but you have to find YOUR perfect T-Bird and then comes the hunt to find it. I got mine in June of this year and I have to say I kind of miss the hunt. Maybe I need to start looking for a second one!

LOL I meant that mini seat behind the front seat! My boyfriend said that golf clubs would never fit there so I guess I was wrong!

Re: Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

I've had two full size cart bags in the car numerous times, with shoes and all the other necessary accessories. Clubhead first makes loading much easier. Before buying my Tbird, I took my clubs to the dealer and made sure they would fit.

As you'll learn when us Tbirds set our mind on something, we manage to find a way.

All T-birds come with a soft top.
The T-birds that came from the factory without a hard top is called the "Deluxe".

The ones that came from the factory with the hardtop is called the "Premium". Once you remove the hard top, you can utilize the soft top, as in the Deluxe. Premium models also have a few extra niceties. Look at the porthole authority link provided above for more info.

In my opinion, the Tbird trunk is larger than most other convertible car trunks. I saw a couple on the road a few weeks ago in a Saturn Sky with the top down. The passenger was holding a small box in her lap... it would NOT fit in the trunk with the top down, as it fills the trunk almost entirely. This would be unacceptable to me. I could have fit 6 of those boxes in the Tbird.

Re: Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

I think that all models are the same body style, trunk-wise.
The hard top will not fit in the trunk. It either sits on a stand in your garage, or you can buy a hoist to take it off and on (very handy as it is a two person job due to balance and size) and leave it on the hoist.
The soft top retracts into its own unique space.

                Dorsey,
                1. Yes you would leave the hardtop in the garage. It should come with a rack that stores the hardtop vertically to take up the least amount of room.

                2. Our birds were produced from 2002 to 2005, all trunks are exactly the same size. The 2002 does not have heated seats and slightly less horsepower. I think any year is worth having so don't worry about which year is best.

Re: Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

Dorsey, Follow catb1rd's advice and spend some time on my website.
The advice you've been given so far has all been good but there's even more you'll find on my site..

living in Seattle - you might want to look for an 03 to 05 with heated seats. 02s didn't have them but an aftermarket seat heater can be installed. there are instructions here and on my site.

Hardtop storage - many used tbirds are being sold without the rack and cover so watch for that in sales descriptions. Try to find a local car being sold and ask for the rack and cover. Fall and winter are a good time to be looking for one to buy. There are several companies that make hardtop lifts, manual or electric, if you have a garage to put the car in (best place to store the car).

ALL the t-birds come with an attached softtop and it doesn't take up any extra space in the trunk. The soft top is lined so can be used during the winter.

That is EXCELLENT advice! I will do so accordingly. All of you have saved me so much time and money, and I appreciate that very much.

                    Have a great weekend!

Re: Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

We have soft side bags for travel and last summer carried two bags and clothes for a two week trip. It works. Even with the big headed drivers.

Also you do have your priorities straight, golf and cars go well together.

Hey Old Money, PM Marjo1966, he is wanting to sell his bird and he is in ID. May not be too far away from you (my geography is not super, but I think I am close).
                        GOOD LUCK!!

Re: Golf Clubs in the trunk: Will they fit?

                          Hi Dorsey,

I won't echo much of the other comments except to say that I also have no trouble putting two standard sized golf bags in the trunk... club-end first as others have noted.

One thing that has not been mentioned yet is that the trunk also has a small recessed area at the back... plenty of room for a couple of pairs of golf shoes, box of balls, etc. You can see the space I'm talking about in the photo below, from Dot's site.

                          Welcome to TBN!

                          Cheers,

I get 2 sets of clubs in mine all the time plus beer. It is such great fun to pull up in front of the club with the top down and get the clubs out, see the stares you are getting from driving such a beautiful car. Go ahead buy one you will never regret it!!!
