hydraulic cooling fan motor

My '02 with 22k miles has started overheating. Naturally it's out of warranty.
My mechanic (independent) found that Ford issued a TSB on this problem, I was not notified by Ford. Apparently the solution is replacement with an updated hydraulic cooling fan motor.........$592.73, plus 1.70 hours labor. Anyone have any suggestions how I can get this done cheaper (discount price on parts, secret handshake at dealer to get it covered by factory....)?

It says 02 03. Did the 03 also have the hydraulic fan motor?
