I have lost 1 of the little chrome/plastic inserts that fits into the air vents on my 2002 yellow bird. Another one is loose and falls out so I guess I need to super glue it back. I know this is a poor discription of the part but hopefully you guys will know what I mean. Any ideas on how to replace this part will be appreciated. Also, we just added new whitewalls from Diamond Back to the car and they really look great. Thanks for any help.

You will have to buy new vents from Ford, also the Lincoln LS in the 02 model year is the same. Also check ebay.
The part that slides back and forth for air direction pops out, it keeps you from having to remove the whole vent assembly. I know it also happend on my bird. -

Happened to mine, too.....car came that way when I bought it in fact. If you find a good source for them, let me know as well.

I had one missing also on my 2002 and had to buy the vent assy because the chrome inserts only come with the vents. The Ford parts person can help with a part number. Nothing cheap about our Birds, with the cost of everything on them one would think we had the big "RV" hanging over it.Comment

The chrome insert is available as a separate part without the vent assembly. Last year, I lost the right center vent insert on my 02. There is a separate part number for it, although I cannot find the number. The representative at Allan Vigil Ford in Jonesboro, Georgia was able to look it up for me. If I remember correctly, the part cost about $7.00.Comment

I believe that I have solved my problem. According to my local dealer, the part number for the chrome vent insert is 4W4Z 19E984 AAA. I ordered 4 because the are so small and do tend to fall off and get lost. They cost 4.50 each. Mine are supposed to be in tomorrow and I will let you know if they are correct.Comment

Just stopped at my local dealer and that is the right part number (4W4Z19E984AAA) He gave me a print out of the dash vents. They come one to a package at $7.07.Comment

I ordered mine from a very small dealership in Pell City Alabama. However,I also called the dealership listed in an earlier post in Jonesboro, Ga. and they could get them as well. I decided to just pick mine up and avoid the shipping charge. They seem to be readily available.Comment

I'm so happy to find this -- one of mine has been missing for a while now and it really bothered me. I tried to pretend it didn't but now I feel so much better and I ordered three from my local dealer. This site really is the best!Comment

I picked the part up from Pell City Ford today. I got 3 of them. They were $4.30 each. It is the correct part. Another problem solved.Comment
