    Re: Covers and boots

    Ski

I purchased Texasbird knowing her boot and top carrier were missing. She was wearing her hardtop, and I expected to find a 4 year old weathered and ripped canvas top the first time I raised it. Just part of buying something someone else has driven. I still love the car and cherish every trip out of the garage. Good luck on your quest and your travels.

      Re: Covers and boots

I purchased my 2004 with a few defects. Front bumper had a blemish the size of my hand. Negotiated a new bumper and paint. The inside light console above the windshield was loose and crooked. They fixed. Then three days later, a deer ran full speed into the drivers door in WV. I had to have the door and front quarter panel replaced and painted, and glass replaced. I had them fix a defective THUNDERBIRD logo on the rear and replace the chrome trim over the outside windshield that had 4 dents in it (out of pocket). The car is practically showroom now. I saved it from uncaring hands. Hope I get some points for that.

Anyway, when I purchased it, I made them take the hard top off and put the top up and down to make sure the mechanism worked. Soft boot was included, but the top cover was MIA. I just use a blanket. Cost me nothing.

        Re: Covers and boots

When I bought my '04 it didn't have the H/T and I didn't care as I live in Fl. and have a condo.I didn't need a H/T sitting in my spare bedroom. There was no boot and it became a better point to negotitate after checking on the price with Ford ($560+) My Bird came with a H/T when bought new and may have been left at the dealer or the original owner sold everything when trading in the Bird.It was at a Cadillac dealer so what do they know as most Ford dealers don't know also. Most car sales people DON'T do there homework on cars especially used ones.

P.S. I bought a sand boot to match on e-bay for $265 w/s/h .I put it on once for photo's Same with a used windscreen.
I also think most buyers see the car and love them and don't relize they have a removeable top with a stand ,cover and boot in S.Fl.as I have been asked why some are different.
