I agree that it's probably best to shut off the engine when refueling--that being said i don't understand what is so dangerous about leaving the engine running. In todays mega service stations, cars are constantly entering and leaving the pump islands and service areas, with their engines running, especially the stations with the mini-marts.I am more concerned about the idiots walking out of the minimart and lighting up the cigaretts they just bought. Also, here in the east, gasoline vapors are immediately captured by the nozzle/ pump as you fill up, further mitigating any potential hazard.
