I too ordered mine today. As to the cost, $200.00 is unrealistic especially after hearing Aarons truthfull explanation. When you consider what a nice dinner costs, or a tank of gas these days, it's a deal!

I ordered mine. Now it can sit on the shelf in the garage with the dash kit I bought and the V8 emblems I didn't use....but I still like it for a trip I plan from SWFL up to DC on the autotrain and then drive down the coast.

I hope that all that have ordered one of these racks will post a thread with some pictures in this fourm. I would be very interested in learning a little bit more about this rack before I purchase one. I'm kind of questioning how if this rack was so carefully designed by Aaron, it changed from Chrome to Stainless Steel in about a week? That's a major change that had to drasticly affect the manufacturing and cost. I think I'll wait till I hear some reviews from some of the TBNers. Leroy

Re: Chrome Trunk Rack For Our T Bird

                Hi Leroy,
Yes, you are correct. One of the first prototypes was built out of "raw steel" and then chromed. After carefully thinking about product longevity and quality.... I did not want any slim chance of this new product rusting or corroding from standard weather conditions in the future. I live by the ocean and it would rust in no time... and for those of you who live in snow, the salt from the roads would cause it to rust in no time.

We opted to go with a more expensive 100% Stainless Steel with a buffed and polished finish.

The possibility of rust and corrosion was that one little thing that kept bugging me, so I nipped it in the bud and went with the weather-proof 100% Stainless Steel!

Also, I did not show the 1000 pound limit safety strap in the photo shoot. It's simply a black strap with a 1000 pound breaking limit secured with a vinyl coated military flange hook that has a weight breaking limit of 1000 pounds as well. It straps in the rear of the rack by the 3rd brake light and hooks to the inside of the trunk.

This is an overkill for a safety strap, but I rather have the over protection then be sorry later.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

You can wait to order this in about 2 -3 months when it's ready for distribution to the general public. But, the price will be $100 more than the current promotion price. Once the 400 limit is reached, the promotion will end.

If there are any other Tbirder's on the forum right now reading this, I am sorry to inform you that this promotion is only available to the Thunderbird Concepts Newsletter Subscriber Group at this time.

                Thanks again and Happy Tbirding,
                Aaron

Aaron...I applaud you for going with the stainless. Even though mine will only see occasional use, it will undoubtedly last as long as the car. I know that many people like to see a product first hand before buying. If you're sitting on the fence, there is a 90 day no questions return period. What more could you ask for?

I just ordered mine. Now,maybe I can take the Tbird on trips instead of wearing the Chrysler 300C out. The wife just can not get all her stuff in the Tbird.

Hope I never have a flat. Can someone recommend where one could get a nifty piece of luggage for that rack? One that can be tied down for 80Mph speeds.

FYI folk's. A little inside info. Hope you don't mind Aaron.

But: 251 have been sold!! and in just One and a half days!!

With Aaron's own little "manage the wait" free-bee's that he has added, PLUS as Gene noted, the 90 day GUARANTEE. This inside track Aaron is giving us, is a fantastic advantage, and a wonderful opportunity to us all.

Some nice luggage for the rack would be nice too but it would have to be waterproof or have some type of waterproof cover to go over it. Some vintage looking wide leather straps might be neat also.

                          Hi Aaron,

Does the rack fit in the trunk?

If so, would you show a pic of the rack in the trunk?
