    Re: Top went On Today

This is funny, Ed... I am taking my hardtop off tomorrow - about to store Blue Bird for the long cold winter up here in Canada (temperatures already getting near freezing at night...brrrr)... but this year I thought I would store the car with the soft top up (found too much mildew at the start of the 2008 season), and the hardtop will sit in its holder all winter in its nest.

So next weekend, I will take blue bird out for its final spin and some Fall pictures.

At least during the winter, I will contemplate more upgrades to blue bird... especially "blinging" the engine (Johnny Gumballs knows what I mean).

    Cheers....Mark

      Re: Top went On Today

I worked on mine today, getting it ready to put on. I'm going to put new weather stripping on it. My front molding was cracked so I replaced it and also bought the new front molding for the inside but I wont put that on till I get the top on, incase I want to adjust my front mounting blocks. I'm hoping the new weather striping eliminates the rattle going over RR tracks and rough roads. I'm looking forward to having the top on, I just got it in June and only had it on for a few days then took it off for the Summer. I love the way it looks on my car, MSG top on Evening Black. Leroy

Yes, getting to be that time of year, definately a chill in the air, don't think the top will be down anymore this year. Leaves starting to change, put the storm windows down today, and took the AC out of the windows. Guess the last thing to do this week is put the top on. Hate to say goodbye to summer. Put long pants on, on Monday, first time since May. BUT NO SOCKS YET.

Almost time for my "switch" - Goldi is topless for the summer, Moondoggie rides with his stylish portholes - I reverse them for the winter. We have lots of "ragtop days" here in the winter, so it's always one top on, one top off.

We put our top on yesterday too. Our 1 year anniversay of owning our bird is 10/23. It looks like we will evenly split the year with top on / top off, October-March (on) and April-September (off). I was actually excited to have the portholes back. I think it is great we have two cars in one.

Put top on today.I used the last of the plastic protective tape from ford last year.I called dealer to order some more and was told the price was $150 for the kit.I went to ACE hardware and bought a roll of plastic twine for $9.82.It seems to work well.Anybody have any other ideas?

Buy the stainless steel Hardtop Protective strips from Thunderbird Concepts or QAA and you will never have to worry about it again.

Almost put it on Saturday but Susan said not yet. Drove up the to the Chatterbox in the afterrnoon with the top down. It was perfect weather. Ride home 55 degrees top went up. It will be going on very soon. It is like a new car when we put the hardtop on.
