  • Final Bird Bath for the Season

Sadly, Blue Bird will soon be going to bed in her nest, and today was her final wash of the season. I only use Zaino products (from searching old threads, I see that this product is popular amongst TBNers), and upon the advice of Motorspot who sold me my wire wheels, I finally decided to use a leaf blower to dry the wheels and grill. WHY did I wait so long to do this? It worked amazingly well, and saved a ton of time (drying each spoke was rather tedious at times). Besides, I sware the shine is also enhanced from using the leaf blower.

Sometimes I am a little slow in changing the way I wash/dry, but now I will even keep the leaf blower in the birds nest (er, garage) instead of the garden shed.

Can't wait until Spring. It will be a long wait, but one certainly appreciates the change of seasons up here in Canada.

Leaf Blower, hell of a good idea, will even try it on the rest of the car to get the worst of the water off then a quick towel dry.
The 82 LeBaron went to bed today now the T-Bird gets the garage until about the end of the month in case we have a few good warm days left.
The golf clubs don't come home until the club pulls the flags.

Been using the leaf blower on all my cars and cycles since I purchased the first blower 15+ years ago. Neighbors used to laugh at me for using "that big Hair Dryer" until they tried it, too. I especially like it for the soft top and engines. Before the blower I used compressed air, but the electric leaf blower is the best. Nothing dries a well waxed car better or faster than a blower. In the winter I wash my work car with hot water after driving salty streets then blow it dry and no problem with freezing doors or locks. However, I don't recommend the leaf blower for cleaning a dusty interior, compressed air works better for this cleaning, because its easier to regulate and to control (eg. dog hair) what your blowing .

Yep! The neighbors think I'm crazy too. The leaf blower is the best idea. The water certainly streams out from behind the mirrors, the script lettering and the Bird's grille is so much easier to get dry.

I hear ya, Ed...... less than five years to semi-retirement, and then my wife and I will be additions to the Snow Bird population in your sunny Florida... I can't even imagine what it would be like to drive a convertible at Christmas time !! I may be wishing my life away, but one should always plan his/her retirement well.

Feel your pain Mark, The bird nested yesterday. Won't come out again till around May. On the bright side it's just like driving a new car when it comes out again. Also I'll soon have the joy of playing with the 4x4 in snow.

You're right, Andrew.... storing the Bird away during those dreary winter months sure triggers a good dose of spring fever when you uncover your pride and joy for the first time in the new year - it is indeed like having a new car all over again !! Hang in there !!

                    LEAF BLOWER?
Awesome suggestion! Bought one today and gave it a try. Perfect! Love it for the grill, mirrors, headlights & taillights, and just for getting most of the water off the car before I use the chamois. Hardtop went on last weekend (Columbus Day) as there probably won't be any more top down days this year in New Hampshire. Should be able to drive the car for another month or so before we get snow, then it will be in the garage until late April. Love my bird.

For the last two years the top has stayed in the rack. I will be putting NHRedBird in the nest after our family Thanksgiving get together in Duxbury Mass. My neice and her husband own a cranbury bog and it is a scenic place to get together every year. Hopefuly it won't be snowing. Last year it was top down all the way. I will try my leafblower next time as the grill is a pain to dry.
