My boss has a 2007 BMW 7-Series. I've driven it on a few occassions. It's a very nice vehicle. Riding in back is like riding in a limousine. I just wasn't THAT impressed and I couldn't see spending $80,000+ for one. There's a wide selection of vehicles in the $30,000 to $50,000 range that will fill the bill if you want luxury transportation.

Your detailer is right. My best friend has a new 335Ci, his wife has a 540 she has had about a year. I've driven them both multiple times. As a non-drinker I find myself as designated driver alot. But, it's not to be compared to a Thunderbird, or many other cars for that matter. It's like comparing Apples to Watermelons. Nice cars, but I have no desire for one. They have handling capabilities that most drivers would never need in day to day driving. Most, not all, BMW drivers are massaging their own ego, some can just appreciate the cars fine capabilities.
We've owned a 330i for over 7 years...the drivetrain is second to none, with torque to spare. Their inline six has been voted best engine for 10 years running...our major complaint with the car is that when something breaks, BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK!
