For those who ordered a luggage rack, here is a potential option for you to consider. The Sportsman's Guide is offering a Classic® Junior Roof Cargo Pack that hold 5 cubic feet of storage for $14.95 plus S/H.
Made of heavy-duty, highly water-resistant, PVC-coated nylon to protect from weather and dirt
Soft, non-scratch bottom
Storm flaps cover a zipper
34 x 18 x 14"h. Folds up very compact
The straps attach to any roof rack in a flash, no tools
Side-release buckles for quick access to the load without undoing all the straps.
While it may not be a 100% solution, I'm going to give it a try.
