  • Browsing early 2001 photos

Surprising what one can find when looking thru my old photos. I took some of a black tbird in March of 2001 (probably at the Ft. Worth Auto Show), so you know it was a preproduction and may have been one of the cars shown at the debut in Detroit in January 2001.
I noticed the dash - sorry for the photo quality but I didn't have a high res camera at that time.
NOte the dash where the lighter and other misc. accessories are on the 2002 model and compare to this 2001 photo. Can anyone tell me what those "accessory" items were? Were they on the 01 Lincoln LS?

Verrrrrrry interesting. Looks like a photo that needs to be taken to the next Detroit Thunder event if the answer isn't revealed before then. Makes me wonder if this is the preproduction model I keep seeing listed for sale in Hemmings, or if Ford still has this one in their collection.

Lincoln LS had an Ashtary there with a Lighter and Heated seat controls.

Looks like they didn't know how to properly install the boot back then either!!

          Dino, It does, doesn't it.

The personal on the Mystery Tours knew the correct way to put the boot on but that was several months after that show.

The round object on the left almost looks like a key hole. Maybe RetiredFordGuy might know?

I believe she is talking about the panel directly below the AC/Heat controls.

Isn't the "keyhole" an empty cigarette lighter plug?

When i blow that photo up and zero in on that spot, it just doesn't look like a cigarette lighter hole - seems to have a slot in it. of course, the car was on a turntable and it is blurry so can not tell for sure what it is.

I blew it up too Dot, to 400%, it is still very hard to tell. I still kind of think it is the cigerette lighter hole, minus the lighter. The picture is taken on such an angle that I think we are looking at the side of the inside of the hole, which makes it appear a bit distorted.

I'm just guessing Dot, your guess is as good as mine.

Was that the key slot to turn off the passenger air bag?

Maybe the trunk open button that ended up on the drivers door?

You probably could not keep camera steady of all the excitement you felt over the car.

Sooooooo, I've been doing all sort's of "search's" today to try and find out what exactly those controls are. Everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Images 90% of them come from guess where? ThePortholeAuthority!!!!!!! Way to go Dot!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed on the 1:18 Diecast's. The Show car version has a similar set-up. Not exact. But different from the Production Versions. Never noticed that before.
