Update on our Car

We got word Friday at 4PM that our car will be repaired. And they are saying the estimate is very close to $10,000. We will go and see how she is doing on Monday or Tuesday and make sure everything is included.
For those that did not hear, we were rearended in Chiefland, Fl. 70 miles from home.
The car is at our local Ford dealer and they said they will replace everything with 'like' components. Wonder how they will get only one Borla? And we will try to get pics of the repair in progress. Helen and I are so gratefull that it is repairable.
Thanks for all the good wishes and concern. We are fine, just still have the headaches. Helen has an appointment with the DR's on the 7th and me hopefully monday.

*Sure is gonna hurt in my boots, though!

After it is fixed, do not sign anything regarding a release until you have driven it and maybe even a mechanic friend, to make sure the front end etc. is ok and it rides
smoooooooooooooth. Lou

Good news to hear that your baby will be repaired. Just think of it as a little nip and tuck - with it being at a Ford dealer, they should be able to do a great job. I'd follow up with them and ask if they will be painting the entire car. While sometimes just painting the impacted section looks fine, with the extent of your damage and age of the car - I would really push for an entire paint job if they haven't already planned on that.

Let's hope that you both mend quickly as well, with the jolt you got it may take a few more days. But I am glad as well that you are both following up with the Doc. Take care of yourselves!

Glad to hear you'll were alright. The car can always be repaired or replaces. You good health is very much harder to repair and can't be replaced. Hope everything turns out on the plus side.

.....I was rear ended twice in less than two weeks....the first hit hadn't been repaired yet...fortunately the trunk,tail lights,and both rear quarters were not damaged and neither was the floor pan....The exhaust was damaged on the second hit....which created huge problems in terms of along wait for a replacement from Michigan and the fact that the insurance company wanted to repair the damaged portion..because to replace it would mean that it would be in better condition than the rest of the car which had 85000km. on it at that time...The insurance company is only responsible for repairing the vehicle to a condition as it was before the accidents...not to "as new" condition..Also, I would have thought that in this day and age, paint match would not be a problem...Some fabricating had to be done during the repair because parts were no longer available from Ford......I wish you well!

"Like" parts, or "LKQ" means Like kind & quality. In other words used parts. Check it out good. Make sure the like parts are defenitely of like quality. Not an old rusty part that they will cover up with paint, etc.

Joy, thats fantastic news, it looking at the photos, I was afraid it would be totalled. It will be a long time in fixing but, i'm sure she'll be better than new. Keep us informed on how you and Helen are doing, we want you both back to better than new also.
