  • What's over the top in accessories?

Just curious about how you feel about various accessories for the T-bird and what you think may be 'over the top'? I've seen T-bird logo valve stem caps, license plate screw covers, and other such items - not to mention the body modifications.

Personally, I like the basic look and wouldn't want to detract too much from that.

    Oh, oh, kickoff.

I agree I don't want any changes on my bird I think it looks great the way it came from Ford.

Welcome home, Dave. Phu Bai 67-68.

To the point, subtle seems better to me, but I still wonder where the line is.

Aside from changing my rims and adding retro 55' V8 emblems on the front fenders, no mods to mines apperance. (Aside from the Borla Exhaust) I feel it looks the way it should for a new retro design Thunderbird. If it had needed more, Ford would have put more. It's a small car, how many emblems, wings, chrome and "garnish" can it really take. Some have gone to the extreme where it's just a laugh to see. The one on the link posted by luvbirdz is a good example of carrying it WAY overboard. I was attracted to the car the way Ford released it, that's what sold me and made me a happy owner.

            I agree.
I have the '55 retro fender emblems, chrome hood scoop, Borla system & splash guards(due to the constant sand) and that is all.

On the inside I have the upgraded larger floor mats with the Bird logo.
In the trunk I have the trunk floor mat for added horsepower & speed

Re: What's over the top in accessories?

I've owned two classic Corvettes, and made money driving them and then selling them. Most of the work I ever had to do to them was restoring them to original condition replacing aftermarket parts and junk with original. I think the aftermarket stuff is junk. There is only one thing I have added to my 04 that didn't come with it out of the factory and that's my hard top. It's an 03 MSG hardtop. A true collector doesn't want any aftermarket stuff on a original classic car, it takes away from the value. Leroy DaNang Invasion - January 1965 - USMC

I guess a whole lot of us have T-Birds with a whole lot of "junk" added to them. Everybody to there own, but a lot of this "junk" looks pretty good.

no coon tails, but you would have to add a aftermarket aerial for them(guess that's why they put the aerial in the windshield ha ha.)
