How many of you have the keypad feature? As I understand it was a Ford factory option or dealer option. The Bird came with it and I took it off because it was black and I didn't like the way it looked. Today I painted it to match the car. I'm still up in the air as to whether I like it or will ever use it. You can open, close, doors and pop the trunk. Has any one got an opinion one way or another?
I have a 2003 Bird that was Red on Red from factory. Just recently acquired a Whisper white top ( George & Dot brought back from Vegas)
This Red & white combo reminds me so much of the many 55's I have seen in the past. My wife likes the Red top and I LOVE em all. This Red & White bird will turn heads whenever I take it out.
Wife has Cashmere 2005, but it is not as sharp( my opinion) as Red.
Went to Palestine TX 2 weeks ago and happened to see an identical Red on White like mine on North Hwy 79.
Took the hardtop off today to check out the soft top. The previous owner told me that the hardtop was only off the car once at the dealership when he bought it. He had them take off the top, checked out the soft top to make sure it went up and down and had the hardtop put back on. That's the only time it was off since '05.
I wanted to check it out for mildew or any other problems it might have. To my surprise it was perfect, brand new and hardly any creases.
Ron, others have mounted theirs at the base of the windshield and kept the color black. Keeps it out of sight.
It was not a factory option - just available thru the dealer.
It should have been STANDARD on a $40k car, IMHO ...
After selling my '05 Bird to my daughter, who totaled her '02, I finally found a replacement for myself. It's a '05 with 6100 miles owned by a 76 year old. I swapped the wheels and tires from my old car. I think the whitewalls compliment the white hardtop. I am no longer Birdless!

Could you give us a hint as to what you paid?

Just had the pinstripping done today. Had it matched exactly to the gold stripe in the Vouge whitewall tire. Didn't want to overdue it,just one thin line.
