  • I must be crazy!

    There must be a virus which affects those of us afflicted with Thunderbird fever. Back before the cars ever went into production I placed an order with my local Ford dealer for a Thunderbird Blue car with a performance white hardtop. The car finally arrived in March of 2002 and I took delivery. In the meantime I had taken delivery on the Neiman car. In the subsequent years some others have come and gone. In early 2006, my neighbor approached me and offered to buy the blue car. I sold it to him. He always kept it in the garage and drove it only on sunny days. Every time I would see the car I would regret having sold it. Yesterday, I walked down the street and bought it back! It is back in my garage beside the Neiman car. Have any of you ever done something crazy like this?

    PS: A very happy Thanksgiving to everyone! May you enjoy family and friends, and may you have a safe, wonderful and healthy Holiday Season and New Year.

    You have what is called 'MyRaven Fever'. Seek help immediately, before it spreads to the much worse, 'Hardtop Flu'.

    Happy Turkey Day!

      I ditto Sweet T's thoughts - hardtop flu is even more contagious though less expensive to treat. -- but then - there's those hardtop relays that can make it all seem worth while!

            Congratulations Norman, that's great. I don't know, doesn't sound crazy to me but then again, I don't see too many people walking in my footsteps.

                Norman - seriously - you have contracted the virus from Joe (my raven). Do a search and read his history - you have some catching up to do, though!

                  Re: I must be crazy!

                  Hi Norman - I am happy to see someone else has contracted serious Thunderbirditus. Here is my story in a nutshell ....
                  • I bought a 03 Evening Black - Sold It and Purchased It Back;
                  • I sold my 007 (#577) and purchased #264;
                  • I sold #264;
                  • I sold the 03 Evening Black and purchased a 04 Merlot;
                  • I purchased a 04 Evening Black premium.

                  There have been numerous hardtops that have come and gone along the way too but I will digress only if you are curious.

                  There was a reason and a method to this madness but you will never convince this crew of that!

                    One question, Why sell both of the 007s??

                      Joe, when this fever strikes again, I suggest shutting down the computer, throwing out Hemmings Motor News and pouring some firewater over ice until it passes.

                        Dot,

                        Here's the most expensive way to collect.

                        Own one hardtop, then go out and buy different colored Birds to match the hardtop.

                            Jim,
                            Sorry to have missed you. Our car show in North Myrtle Beach fell on the same weekend as the annual show in Hershey. We've gone there every year for a long time....even make reservations a year in advance.
                            The Black Thunderbird around 17th avenue south here belongs to a good friend who is a State Farm agent out on highway 9.
                            Come back to NMB to visit anytime.

                              Joe's done that, too. He can really play the game!
