      We had rain all day today at the Beach, so I used the time to give the Blue Bird a polish.

        They both look great .. The Merlot got its bath last week and is tucked away in the garage awaiting the sun to shine..

          The first one (#577) I sold for personal reasons: It is now in Chicago with an inactive TBN'er though me being Mr. Perfectionist the lady that owned it before me let her poodle scratch the passenger seats. That said, it was basically a good car.

          ~~~~~~~
          The second (#264) was a mistake from day one: It was the only car I have never had checked out by a mechanic and bought it based on a classic car dealer's reputation which was outstanding, I was told repeatedly he was a stand up guy so I learned a lesson on that one.
          I found out shortly after I bought it that it had had body & paintwork, the interior parts continually broke (I won't ever forget Jim Heath and I trying to get the parking brake cover snaps rehooked after they broke for the zillionth time during the Beach Boys event). Then I found out more about the history from a fella who knew the car as he worked at the original dealership that sold it and it wasn't good.
          I had several inquiries from TBN'ers who had friends or acquaintances that inquired about mine but that was one reason I never pursued selling it to someone I knew or through a friend.
          It was on EBay for a few months but I see it is no longer on the dealer website that wound up with it (The guy that bought it from me kept it less than 2 months). I suspect it went to auction because I placed a comment on the carfax about the car's history so no one would get taken like I did (I would guess my name is mud at that car dealership but my conscious is clear).
          ~~~~~~~

          The original 03 Raven was a car I planned to keep forever but a factory paint flaw emerged that was going to require a major repaint. Also, a electrical gremlin surfaced about the same time. The extended warranty would have ended tomorrow so I decided not to take the risk or go through a repaint whether I paid for it or I battled with FoMoCo though 2 company employees told me this was a problem with evening black 03s.

          As if it were meant to happen the 04 Merlot showed up with 9k, one lady owner, and in mint condition. She never drove it and her husband needed a F150 so they traded it (or that was the story when I called her). So I drove to Richmond and traded the 03. As Merlot/Sand is my favorite color combination from the 4 year run it was a no brainer.

          I sold my 95 LX 4.6 daily driver as the right price came along so I bought the 04 Raven as my daily driver and I love it. She was a lease turn-in, a DC bird bought at Koons Ford, and passed my mechanic's inspection with flying colors. The accent interiors on the Evening Blacks had grown on me so I bought this one.

          So, there was a method to the madness. I plan to keep the 04 EB (Suzanne) and the 04 Merlot (Lucy, the garage queen). Nothing else out there suits my fancy unless I win the lottery but even if I did these 2 would remain in the stable: I suspect a VMG or MSG with saddle accent would be next but that is wishful dreaming.

            AND NOW WE KNOW. Thanks for the detailed explanation. One always wonders why people trade or replace cars such as ours.

            And Joe, you know that this is not the end.
