The next evening when I got home from work it looked like it had snowed. The darn squirrels had carried every moth ball I had placed in the attic out of the attic and dropped them in the front yard. Unbelievable sight.
    That's too funny!

I don't have mice but this would keep them out. It's a Black & Decker Electronic pest repeller. There's three of these in a package for $19.00 at Home Depot - Lowes probably has same or similar. Just plug them in and forget them. They also have a socket on the side so you don't lose an outlet.
From the package: "Safe around household pets, drtives out mice spiders and other pests".

Anyway, when we built our house a few years ago, I put in three in the cellar two in house and 3 in garage. NOTE: You probably really only need two.
Anyway, we are bug free!! A delight to go into the cellar to NO spiders. And, it's fun to be in the garage and watch the bees fly in, get disoriented and try to get out (some do though) Any that stay will be dead on the floor within 1/2 hour
No smell, no sound (that you can hear) Just in case, another solution!

George - I tried those and still had mice. I even got the ones that change sound so that the varmits wouldn't get used to the noise - so now I just pay someone 4 times a year to come out and spray & put out bait.

rrglen, I misspoke, I do now remember the little squares of "mouse nesting material" so thoughtfully provided by Ford for homeless creatures.

I don't think that they are needed for any purpose except for a feeble attempt at some sound attenuation. As I said before, I added my own insulation in the rear and found that it helped. I have no doubt that in the spring when I do the floors, doors, firewall and transmission tunnel, I will have a quieter car.

I put some pictures in my gallery of the insulation work.

            Hope this helps.

Re: Mouse nesting in trunk - T-bird bites back!

Karmic ending to this story. On Monday morning, wife takes the dogs for a walk and comes back in telling me I have to come out to the garage. There, behind the back right tire, lay a very flat and very dead mouse, along with a small blood stain on the tire.

Since then, I've had this vision in my head that later that day, when no one was looking, the mouse tried to get back in and the T-bird just smiled and stomped on him.

I'm guessing that I scared him out of the trunk when I cleaned out the nest, and when I backed the car out to test the radio, he tried to scamper out from under the car and >splat<
