  • It always jazzes me

In Texas there is not a lot of reason to put on the hard top but I do it anyway during November or December and then leave it on until March or maybe even April. I put on my hard top today and it always jazzes me to do so. In my opinion, the cashmere looks outstanding with the top down and boot installed or with the hard top on. Not so outstanding with the soft top up. But, as has been mentioned before by many, going from soft top to hard top is virtually like having a different car and the port holes, oh the port holes…. How great it is to have them back for a few months.

I totally agree with you Lonestar. That's the beauty of our TBird - so many accessories, and each complements the car. I recently purchased a hard tonneau cover, and can't wait for the Spring to get it painted, and introduce yet another look to the car.

What a fantastic machine. Thank you, Ford.

You are so right, Lonestar. With 2 Birds, I like to have one hardtop on, one off. Last winter Moondoggie's hardtop was off, Goldi's on, but I put MD's back on for the trip to Savannah, and I've left it on ever since. Goldi's has been off since that time, and I think I'll leave it that way for the winter. We get some great top-down days here in Tidewater in the winter, but I sure love the porthole look.

        Lonestar,

Maybe its time for a "hardtop on" gathering around Plano somewhere.

I to agree. In South Florida, we can enjoy top down driving year round. But I have to put the top on for a couple of months anyway. Just because I enjoy the look and feel with the hartop on. I always get a whole new round of compliments from friends when the hardtop goes on. I'm putting the top on this week, and actuially thinking of driving the car to Atlanta for the holidays. Typically don't drive into cold weather with my T'Bird.

Lonestar, I'm in TX but a lot further south than you. This is the first winter we've owned the T-bird and I'm debating whether to even put the hard top on. Yesterday my wife asked why I didn't put it on last week when my son-in-law was here to help. Weather wise we don't really need to install the hard top but maybe I'll put in on anyway just for a change. I'm sure the first sunny day we have in Feb. will be the day it comes off again. Love this South Texas weather - well, maybe not in Aug.

This is the first Winter I've had a Hardtop. My car didn't come with one and it took me a year to find one. I bid on some on Ebay but always got out bid. I finaly found one in Michigan and bought it. My car is Black and my top is Mountain Shadow Grey and I love it , but since I put it on about 5 weeks ago, I've hardly been able to drive it. We've been hit with some early snow already. I was able to drive it Thanksgiving Day. It saw snow for the first time last week, I backed it out of my garage so I could get the Christmas decorations down from the rafters and it started snowing on it. Now there's salt all over the roads and I probably will not take it out for a drive again till March or April. I'll just go out and open the garage door and start it up once in a while and turn the heated seat on and the heater and listen to the radio for a while. Leroy

Jeff and I put the top on the car yesterday. She's going to work with me tomorrow. I absolutely love the car with the hardtop on. At the moment, I'm leaning towards leaving it on. Although, by the time spring rolls around I may have a new opinion. Either way you just can't beat our birds.
