  • Re: 2009 T-Bird sightings

Driving home on VB Blvd this afternoon in Moondoggie (W.bound) I saw another Cashmere (generic plates) going in the other direction. Stuck my hand out the window and - got an enthusiastic back, but couldn't turn around to track him down and give him an invite to T@TWH next week.

There sure are a lot of Cashmeres in Tidewater!!!

Whoever, the soft top looks pretty clean. I wonder what he/she uses?

My thoughts, exactly. When my neighbor showed me this pic, my first words were..."OMG - look at the top!!"

Is this the 57 sitting at Jim Skinner Ford in Birmingham? Kinda looks like it.

Just saw a 2005 (color withheld) at Home Depot. I was driving one of the SUV's, but went over to the driver and said "Nice Car". He replied "Yeah, no kidding". So I said - I have a 2004. He then decided that he had to point out to me that while the value of my car was going down that his was going up. This was said very sarcastically and with an in your face attitude.

Well he got my dander up and while I should have bit my tongue, I said well "I disagree - the value of both are going down." But did add - the value is how much it means to you. I should have saved my breath as he snipped back at me and said "Well my car is worth in the high $30's - yours isn't."

I just smiled and thought - yeah bud - yours isn't either. What an absolute JERK. Who would cut someone that just complimented your car. Hope he has fun with his "investment" while I have fun with the Tbird experience.

Oh, Vickie - I feel your pain (when you run into people like that). He wasn't just a jerk, he's a snob! That guy shouldn't even own a T-Bird. I know I'm obsessive, but I honestly feel that if one is going to purchase a Bird, it's a responsibility to [join TBN] learn as much [fact] about the car as possible, and then sit back and enjoy the fun, fun, fun!

Yesterday out in Greenbrieer I saw a TR, license "BSTGRN", but couldn't get a wave. I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but it does.

Elle - John wanted to meet the last time I was here. Thing is I'm at the mercy of the other Board Members, same gig - fly in - dinner - overnite - then meetings & fly out. Quick in & out. I would rather spend time talking Tbirds. Tonights conversation was all sports - boring!

You got the right attitude Vickie. If these cars happen to be worth something in the future then great; if not, that's OK too. I'm just going to enjoy the Thunderbirds I have for as long as I can. When I bought my 03 Thunderbird, at the time I felt I wanted one as Ford Thunderbirds have always struck a chord with me and I didn't feel we would ever see as special a vehicle come out of Detroit again.

With so many retro cars having hit the market in the past 11 years, I'm not sure any will ever be "that" collectible. Enjoy them. If it's still around 10 or 20 years from now than great. If not, you've had a good time while it lasted and there will something else down the road.
