  • Re: 2009 T-Bird sightings

I was in Maui and saw a PCR and a WW. Both had their hard tops on. I talked to the Lady driving the WW and she said there are only 4 t-birds on the island. She keeps the top on because of the intense island sun. She said the only people who drive topless are tourists. She couldn't remember the name of her car color and seemed very pleased when I told her. Kudos to TBN for my education.

Went to the corner store last night that I always go to to buy my Lotto tickets and pulled up next to a 04 PS, hard top on. Walked in to see only one other person in the store at the conter, I asked if that was her PS out front, we had a great conversation. Turns out she has a second Reto bird a 04 TR. Hope she will be checking in real soon as she sounded really interested at looking up the site. I didn't get her name, as we just talked about the Retros and that you hardly ever see too many but how nice it is to see another and most drivers wave in acknowledgement

On our way home from Choo Choo we stopped at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. In the parking lot was a 2005 T-Bird with Florida plates. Also had a "For Sale" sign in the back window. Never did see who was driving.

At Julep's first car show, the weekend before Choo Choo in Lynchburg, TN, there was another 2004 T-bird (Merlot). The owners came over and found us first. Very friendly folks. Had never heard of TBN, so I gave them the URL and the gal wrote it down.

I wish then I'd had a TBN business card to hand out! Are there such things as TBN cards, or even the MS Word template for a card? I can always print off my own here on business card stock. It would just be easier to have a supply in the car than try to hunt down scraps of paper and a pen, especially at a car show.

It's a nice fall day here in Eastern PA. I took the T-bird out for a drive at lunch time (working at home today) and encountered a blue Bird in my town of Buckingham. It was also obviously out for a drive to enjoy the weather, and we drove past each other three times! It had New Jersey tags on it. My town is less than ten miles from New Jersey. We see a lot of out of town tourists, with our beautiful natural scenery here, and the trees changing into their fall colors.

I am overwhelmingly sorry to report this sighting. I'm even more sorry to post the pictures, but Dot would probably want them for "Ugliest Retro Bird" category at PortholeAuthority. Charley called me this afternoon when he drove by a friend's offce building and saw this horrible pink Bird parked there. The pictures don't show it, but the pink has a slight green metallic fleck in it, to add insult to injury. Our friend was not at his office at the time, but Charley plans to call him tomorrow to find out if he knows who the owner is. I hope this doesn't ruin anyone's dinner.

Is that what happens to a TR if it's out in the sun too long? All kidding aside, to each his (or her) own. We've all seen mods we would never do but it's not our car.

Now, if that Bird had been in the parking lot at Choo Choo, the owner would have had no problem finding his / her car amongst all the others. Also probably the most photographed Bird as well. I'm just saying ----

now, according to what Elle told me at CCT and I remember from a much previous post, the car was bought new and wisked off to receive that paint color. Supposedly Coral Sand, a 57 tbird color - and it's not pink but more of a pale orange or similar to orange sherbet. Now, if she had 2 toned it with a white top and put a little more chrome on it or shined it up better than the pictures show, I bet it would look spectacular.
You can find pictures of coral sand 57 thunderbirds on my website and they look really cool with a white or tan interior or even the black & white interior. Maybe she should have the top painted black!

Thank Charlie for getting those pictures for me, Elle!

Had a sighting of my own today - spotted a red parked at a restaurant we frequent but didn't have time to stop and deposit a card. had a meeting to go to.

Dot, I don't think that's the same car. The one you're referring to was a Cashmere, and this is not an '05 Bird. The wheels appear to be '02, and it has a partial white interior package. Also the sabre is not the 50th anniversary. Charley says this car had no coral or orange tint; it was very pink w/ a green metalflake over it (which the camera couldn't catch). I dont think it's "fairyjennabelle" either - Alexandria is 4 hours north of us.
