I am planning a road trip with my 2004 T-bird from Chicago to Los Angeles by way of rout 66 and back by way of the Lincoln Highway. I am wondering if I should remove my wheel center hub caps and put wheel locks on. Has anybody lost their center hub caps or wheels to thieves. Is it possible to buy cheep plastic caps that I can use for the trip?

Re: 2004 t-bird center cap and wheel locks
Take your Bird on your Trip and enjoy it ... If by some chance someone stole your caps you can pick them up on EBay for $20 or less apiece. No one has ever bothered the caps on my merlot, evening blacks or 007s. JMHO.
Have a safe and scenic trip.sigpicSoaring with My Raven Under Carolina Blue Skies ...

Same here, never had a problem with center cap theft, but I would definitely get the wheel locks.PK- 2002 Premium Blue/Full Accent/Whisper White Top VIN#16336

Re: 2004 t-bird center cap and wheel locks
As for myself I would just enjoy the car as is without the extra expense of addons because what I've experienced with thieves is if they want it they are going to get it or tear it up in the process. And it would have to be replaced anyway.
Also for any who are Reading this, While I was cleaning mine this past weekend I noticed that the painted ring insert on the center cap was very loose so I removed it and add some new adhesive-sealant to the ring as the old had come loose. Might want to check it out.
