John, I can't believe the picture of the Challenger you posted. I had a 1970 Challenger R/T SE, 383 mag, white with same side stripe and luggage rack only difference mine was hardtop. great pic.

      Hi All,

I have a luggage rack and am now just getting around to looking at a piece of hard sided, weather proof luggage for our 2010 trips.

Has anyone found and bought a suitcase/luggage that can be left out there in the weather since we all know it does occasionally rain enroute.

Would like to see some pictures/specs/mfg names etc.

I have found some attractive luggage which is hard sided fiber glass but it has a cloth zipper on it, so probably not ideal or weather proof.

Even I was "surprised" when a Mustang showed up to the inaugural Ottawa gathering of Thunderbirds way back in 2009. But we let the car "on" my driveway... after all, it is a FORD.

Somehow, I think that same Mustang may return this coming May !!

Yes Mark, Wayne and Sharon most likely will be there again, especially if you do the Bar-B-que thing again. Maybe they will also bring the '95 SC.

I think I found what I want for the luggage rack on my 02. Luggage 24X17x10.5 PVC with aluminum re-enforced edges.

Here is a rendering of what I am going to do!

The handle extends to pull the bag along and the wheels retract when the handle is down.

Some nice leather straps with stainless steel buckles and a few minor alterations it should look sharp.

I have an extra set of bird wings same as on the trunk and will put that on the luggage.

(Pardon my poor drawing skills, this computer is not set up for graphic design.)

                      Thanks for all your help.

Once I get the luggage finished I will post some pics with it mounted on the trunk rack.

This is a a good winter project for a retired guy, although it won't take that long to do.

Well I received my piece of luggage and am working on altering it to mount on the luggage rack with two black leather straps.

I mounted the bird wings on it, now working on finding the right hardware for the straps to loop thru to secure the straps to the luggage. Then figure out how to attach the straps to luggage rack.

I might mount an after market third brake light to the bottom of the suit case or to the luggage rack with a quick disconnect connected to the rear deck brake light too for saftey purposes.

                            Here is the first step!

Gord, for saftey purposes, the goverment mandated elavated brake light has not reduced rear end hits, another failed goverment mandate.
