      Re: Luggage Racks

Alright! You don't know how good it feels to see the Trunk Racks on your Tbird's... well, probably not as good as those putting them on their Tbird's right now. But, it feels good to see this happening.

This project has been a long and tough one to say the least. I think it is well worth it now and I had a really great time collaborating with everyone to make this happen.

So far, the response has been excellent... as I had hoped it would be.

      I just got this picture and note emailed to me today from Ray;

      "Aaron
Attached are pictures of my bird. If you will notice I have just about all your products or a lot of them. I love the rack and thanks for the hat and luggage tag."

This is great to see the White's Trunk Rack photo as well... I am a happy camper right now. Thanks everyone.

          Re: Luggage Racks

Well I just got mine too and have it installed. Looks good, just what Aaron promised. Found the installation guide in with the packing slip after I got it installed but managed to get it right. One thing I did was use some white lithum grease on the clips and bolts, also cleaned and wire brushed the treads as they worked kind of hard at first...just fine with a little grease.

          Thanks Aaron, great job.

            Re: Luggage Racks

Alright Gary... great news! Yes, everyone be careful with those stainless steel bolts (as I mentioned in the installation instructions), they will "cold weld" to the nut if you don't use a lubricant. (but, of course this is better than rusting together which is inevitable with raw steel)

I have already lubricated them with a graphite spray (hundreds of them personally.... one at a time!!!!) to insure that you guys will not have this problem upon receiving the Trunk Racks brand new.

If you do take it off and on frequently, you will have to lubricate the nut and bolt. It's real easy... just use a grease or graphite spray or graphite powder.
Oh yeah, we used a nylon lock patch bolt to insure that it will not come loose from the vibration of driving. This will make the tightening of the bolt a little harder than normal (not hard, just a little tighter)... if anyone was wondering about that.
You will see all this in the installation instructions... but, it's a good reminder for us all.

              Re: Luggage Racks

It appears from the pictures sent in so far, that the rack should be able to fit inside the trunk. Has anyone tried to get it in there? Another thing is, does it appear it be sturdy enough to carry the weight of a wheel with a flat tire? Would you trust it? Leroy

AWESOME Folks!!! I can't wait for mine. Should be here shortly. I must admit I got a little frustrated with FedEx. It took them forever to put up my tracking number, other than scheduled for pickup. I was a tad of a pain to them, Since then I have been getting e-mails from them as is treks across the country. It's now in Orlando. Which means, looks like tomorrow for me!!!

The trunk rack arrived about 1:30 PM (a day earlier than the last FedEx update). After unpacking, inspecting and smiling a little I can say WELL DONE. Haven't installed it yet because the 'bird needs a bath. As soon as that is done photos will follow. It appears that it was certainly worth the wait.

How easy is it to put on and take off? Can you just put it on for a trip?

                          Re: Luggage Racks

Mine was delivered today to a friends house in Ohio and I will be going down there from Canada in few weeks to pick it up, otherwise the shipping and the duty would have been as much as the rack itself.

I spoke to my friend Dave and I asked him to take it out of the box which he did and he says it's beautiful!

Thanks Aaron apparently it was worth the wait. I had no doubts since other items I have bought thru the Nest have been all great. I will advise further once I see it with my own eyes.

Yes it can be put on for a trip and apparently it is easy to install and remove for a trip. It has been designed for quick easy installation with padded feet and trunk lip hooks to protect you paint and edges. I can hardly wait to try mine on the car since I am planning a road trip this year with my 02 black.

It took me about 30 minutes the 1st time to assemble the parts, align the rack properly on the lid, and tighten down. I see it in the future as a 5 minute job. It looks great on the car. When loaded though, the 3rd brake light will be blocked from view. It will be interesting to see what an overzellus cop will do.

If the third light was a concern, if I may make a suggestion, at the back of the rack there is a secondary securing bar/tube and in that area a generick light could easily be installed and wired to the brake lights with a quick disconnect plug. Just one idea I would probably put to use but I did not order one of these racks. I am leaning towards a small trailer if anything. Perhaps an idea for Aaron to work on next.
