    Re: Luggage Racks

    Hi Gary,

Wow, the trunk rack looks amazing in your photos. I love how it compliments the chrome Thunderbird writing, wings, and rims. It pops off that black color... and the palms in the background with that sand top are a good combo. Wow. I starred at it for about 5 minutes. I really like that shine into the camera lens on the closeup picture.

I just finished putting a Rack on my friends car and It looked great. Did it yesterday and took me about 10 minutes. Very easy for me but my friend was afraid to try it.

I have already lubricated them with a graphite spray (hundreds of them personally.... one at a time!!!!) to insure that you guys will not have this problem upon receiving the Trunk Racks brand new.

If you do take it off and on frequently, you will have to lubricate the nut and bolt. It's real easy... just use a grease or graphite spray or graphite powder.
Oh yeah, we used a nylon lock patch bolt to insure that it will not come loose from the vibration of driving. This will make the tightening of the bolt a little harder than normal (not hard, just a little tighter)... if anyone was wondering about that.
You will see all this in the installation instructions... but, it's a good reminder for us all.

Mine just arrived. I'll open it up and take a look. Can't do much right now because the Bird is in the shop getting a new thermostat installed.

Look at it from the bright side Spence. At least they can't give you a ticket for rackless driving..

                Re: Luggage Racks

Dave, Hope you can get some good pictures of the instalation process. I'm also curious of how much clearance from the back window there is when the trunk lid is up with the rack on. Also your opinion of if you would trust it to hold the weight of a flat tire? I was also hoping it would fit in the trunk when not it use. Leroy

Trunk rack has arrived one day early. You can see that quality was job one in the product. Everything looks perfect. Will be installing it in the morning.

Thanks Arron it was worth the wait

                            Hi George,
I like the low profile case they have for the Jaguar rack. (the pictures on the bottom of the page). http://www.tarischarysyn.com/xkeluggage.html

It could possibly work. I have put the big airport bag on the rack and it's a little bulky looking... so, a low profile case would have to be the one for me. Also, it would be more aerodynamic.

In years past. I had a similar piece of luggage I used with my 69 Vette Vert, which came equiped with the Luggage rack. Loved the look then, love the look now. And you never know when out cruising, you'll stumble accross that yrad sale with a must have item, or go to a car show, with many shops in the area. Makes it a very useful, and unique, accessory.

Great looking luggage. Do you think any of those pieces shown could withstand being caught in the rain, if a storm just happen to appear while out driving to a TBird gathering.

Hope that it can because I saw a set whose color I think goes well with my TBird.
