  • Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

I am on disability with shoulder problems and spent hard eraned money for item that was called Prestine and Guaranteed.
I work in a factory and wife in hospital and together make 75K.
This is a Hobby and first time to purchase and be shafted has pissed me
and you who have sided with me and tell me to continue..
1500.00 was a lot of money to us and never thought I would be
shafted by a T bird owner.
    Was I wrong!!!
I will never buy from this site ever unless their is a rating system put
into place to show who to buy from and who not too.
I can not even clean these items because of injury and I sit all day thinking and get more angry knowing people sell and call something
Prestine and Guarantee and promise to return money for they are
wrong and do not send what was promised...
What does it take to be honest ..
I call it coming out of the closet honesty and making someone try and
be straight and not BS when selling a item..
So I purchased one time and got screwed and it will not happen to me here again..
Sorry everyone else has to pay for ignorance of a few..
This is my last writing here and will visit but will not be a part of it
no longer with every time I write my artcile gets pulled.
    Thank You Joe

As I said in another thread the thread was pulled because we have been notified of possible legal action. I locked and then later pulled the thread. We did this to protect TBN and that is the only reason why.

We have asked Joe and the other member to take this privately.

        Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

I am only hearing one side of this but would like to make a few of comments. First and foremost you did not purchase the wheels from TBN. TBN is not eBay or the like. You purchased the wheels from someone who is a member of TBN. So, bottom line, you did not purchase from “this” site (TBN) – you purchased from an individual who happens to belong to TBN. TBN is not responsible for the condition of the product you purchased nor are they responsible for private transactions between individuals who happen to be members of TBN.

Cars, wheels, washers, dryers, etc. are new once and only once. When sold used, even if advertised as excellent or other positive adjective, one has to understand they are not fresh from the manufacture. Additionally, one individual’s definition of excellent may not be another’s. I purchased a set of wheels from a TBN member and I was told they were in great / new condition. When received the wheel I was not surprised that I had to spend some time really cleaning them up to remove the light brake dust and to polish them to my desires. If the previous owner of the wheels had spent the time I did working on them to get them like I wanted then I would have had to, without a doubt, pay more than the fair price I paid for a set of very nice wheels.

From your post it appears you paid about one half, maybe a bit less, of what the wheels cost new today. The primary concern is whether or not they are turn (not bent or out-of-round). From the pictures I saw it appeared the previous owner had indeed spray washed, maybe even hand washed the wheels. However, he did not get after them with a tooth brush and polish each spoke. Again, if he had, or if he had this done, then the price would have probably been more to account for and reflect that effort.

I am sincerely sorry to hear that you have a disability that makes it hard to clean the wheels to the level you want but maybe you can take some time and do a little at a time until they are like you want. Keep in mind, even if they were out of the box new, the first time you drive your car brake dust will get on them and probably be, at best, in the same shape as how you receive them.

For the record, I have no idea who you purchased the wheels from and I am sorry the wheels are not in the condition you thought they should be.

Well spoken, Lonestar. I fully understand the legalities of why the Administrators had to pull the thread, and I fully support them for it. Keeping a site like this one available to the public is an awesome responsibility, and the TBN Administrators do a great job.

Joe: I sympathize with your issues. Being married to a disabled individual, and having recently had bi-lateral hip replacement myself, I can truly see where keeping your car in pristine condition is not as easy as it once was. I hope you can understand why TBN had to do what was done, and I wish you the best in all your endeavors.

                Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

I have no complaints about this site and most of you and what you write.
But this person used the word Prestine and guarantee and when they arrived
and unpacked and saw the etched dirt and 3 nicks and distorted chrome in
2 rims it pissed me off..
If you tell me used rims and need TLC cleaning I would have no say in anything.
But do not lie to get sale and expect me to sit there and take it without
                me doing something..
And then say you will send 100 back twice and not follow through.
So this was the only way I know to show this situation and see if this would
slow the persons way of doing business to others..
Will it probably not but I needed to vent this and sorry guys but was the only way
                I know of..
This will be my last note about this situation here.
Its like a pain if you have it you know it but if someone else has it you just shake your head at it..
If you were put in this situation what else could you do being 1200 miles away?
I vented and now done with it..Joe

                  Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

With all due respect, Joseph, Lonestar is absolutely correct.

TBN is not the forum to air this debate: You should seek restitution in small claims court if you deem this transaction egress.

TBN is merely a third party which allows members to post items for sale. It is in no way liable for transactions gone bad nor is it wise to allow disputes be aired publicly or debated. By doing so the owners avails the site and themselves proper to possible litigation on numerous counts.

Good Luck, I wish you the best.

                    Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

Much to my chagrin, yet another post about this evolves. I wil tell you up front here, that I was one of some member's here, that asked the Admions to close, lock, or whatever, your previous posts about this issue. I hope to see this one also disappear!
It is nothing more that a flame posting. Your choice of wording should be done in your notebook file on your computer, then editied, to be posted in the approriate area, without the infurance of TBNer's not caring about other member's. I buy and sell here, often. But it has nothing to do with the Site Owners, or Amins, or other disenterested parties. They afford us a classified section, so that we may first, if we chose, offer items to our friends here, before going public with them. There is absolutely no reason for any private transaction, good or bad, in either parties eyes, to end up here in the Thunderbird Chat venue. I am truly sorry you feel the way you do, but all of your postings do nothing to recify your situation, only to flame us, the membership, the Site, the owners, the seller, and anyone peering in for the first time to take a look at us. Looking from the outside in, the pic's you posted seemed quite acceptable for the price you keep posting. You also keep refering to many e-mails back and forth. That is where this needs to be. Not here. I do hope you will stick around to see what a great family we have here. But please do so without the flaming attitude your typing on the keyboard has been reflecting. This has by far, outrun it's course.

                      Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

I have learned one thing from all this and that is: I never want a set of wire wheels because i am never going to keep them in Prestine condition, let alone pristine. I just want to have fun and go to the car wash (hand wash of course) and watch somebody wash, polish, wax etc. my car while I talk cars with all the other old farts getting thier cars cleaned.

                        Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

JustJon, I agree with you. I definitely selected my new rims with the ease of cleaning in mind. No one can clean my car as well as I, but I hate washing my car. I do it, but to me it's like bathing a dog. A royal pain. So I got rims easy to clean, I blow dry it with my leaf blower, then do a final chamois to make sure nothing was missed, get the door and trunk jams, all the other detail areas. I like the look of wires but would never clean them. In fact, I start by cleaning the rims first to get it over with. Then a fresh bucket of car wash suds. when it's all done I stand back proud, find somewhere I think I have to go and take a ride.

See how we eased this into a care car thread, now all you Zaino guys?

I also purchased 2 wheels in 2003 for extras for my baby. Sold one and kept one. Had scratches and dings. From E Bay and paid a hefty price way back then. MY PROBLEM. DO not blame TBN or all the good folks that are members.

                              Re: Ratings System for Sellers/Buyers

Joe felt as if he bought something that did not meet his standards. He was up set with the seller and probably himself also. People do not always see things the same. What is pristine to one may be average to another.

The Terms of Service states: "TBN cannot be held responsible for the authenticity of the content or the actions of its members. Items sold or bought in the Classifieds forum are sold "as is" and no warranty or insurance of any kind is provided. TBN cannot be held responsible for the outcome of any transactions and no warranty of any kind is provided, either express or implied."

Everyone here on TBN needs to check the seller out and ask question if you do not know the person. We, the Admins, can not run checks on everyone that joins TBN or tries to sell goods on this site. It is the buyers responsibility to know who they are buying from.

I will be closing this thread.
