Re: They Get You One Way or the Other.

The same thing happened to my 1990 Thunderbird SC and I'm still mad about it seventeen years later. I always parked away from my apartment and my office to avoid door dings. I woke up one morning to find a three foot long crease in the side of the car. The car parked next to my T-Bird had white paint on the it's bumper and didn't even belong in the apartment complex. I called the police and they said that unless someone witnessed them hitting my car there was nothing they could do. Some people who don't have nice things seem to enjoy it when this sort of event occurs, but that's the world we live in.

I took it to the Geico repair shop this morning -- in the snow -- and the inspector said it looked to him like someone kicked it. I think that is really low. I guess I'll just have to leave it in the garage with no cover on and hopefully it won't happen again.

Re: They Get You One Way or the Other.

LINDA - I know what you are going through.....My TBIRD is a daily driver and I pick up a elderly lady and take her to church every day and other places if she needs it. I have to open the door all the way open in order to get her into the car and out....now that takes up some space.....so I park away for any other cars in the parking lot and it never fails....someone parks next to me most every day and sometimes on both sides when there are lots of empty space available for them to park.....this prevents me from opening the door wide enought to get Miss Mary into the car so I have to wait until they show up and move their car.....or go and search them out to move their car....I am so lucky that I don't have any dents yet.....but I just don't understand why people do the to our cars, I do talk to those people when that happends.

          happy trails

Back in 1985 my ex drove our new Caddy Eldo. She always parked very careful as this was her baby. One day she parks and some gal pulls in next to her throws open the door and hits the car behind the rt. wheel well and go's into the store. My ex jumps out of the car runs into the store and grabs the women by the arm and just about dragged her out to show her the door dent. The womens responce "what are you so excited about it's only a car" That women wound up getting a verbal beating with words I cannot print

People are really unbelievable -- if I hit someone's car and they were there -- I can't imagine just going on like nothing happened. And if they weren't there, I would certainly leave a note or wait until they came out. And there you are doing something nice for someone and look what happens. No good deed goes unpunished!

In Chicago it's real bad for parking in garages. Not only do they charge a fortune, they've been making the spaces smaller in width, more spaces more money. Sometimes I've had to let my passenger out before I pulled in becuase they couldn't open the door enough to get out. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to deal with that anymore. Leroy

Leroy when the attendent parks your car in N.Y.C. garages they leave a window open.Cars are parked next to each other very tight with the drivers door on the open side. When someone comes for there car the attendent sometimes has to climb over the cars and get in through the open window.

Re: They Get You One Way or the Other.

You should have seen the expression on the local mall secuity guy's face a few years ago when I still had the Supercab dually. I always parked it away from everything else, because as Leroy says they are making the spaces smaller. As I came back to my truck, he was sitting there waiting and at first I though someone had hit it, but no. I unlocked the door and he started to fuss. "People like you that take up more than one space make it difficult for others." I just looked at him like he had to be kidding. Realizing he was serious, I calmly said, "I didn't build the truck or paint the lines, you park it in ONE space." He got out of his car, looked and said, "Oh, I guess it won't fit, sorry" I just shook my head and thought, "They walk (and drive) amoung us"
                    "Probably good enough, isn't"

I just got my car back from the garage and it looks beautiful! Thanks everyone for your support -- I feel much better now, I was worried they wouldn't get the color right or you would be able to see something but it looks as good as new. Now let's just hope whoever did this got it out of their system! I have better things to do with that $500 deductible!
