  • TBNers From The Past

Was thinking today of how to not have your space in line broken by a cutter and I remembered Captain Ken leading us in the mile and a half convoy during Thunder Fever. He told us not to look at the possible intruder!! I wonder whatever happened to Captain Ken who I nicknamed Captain Convoy. Thunder Fever was one of the all time great gatherings.

It was not the commraderie that drove them away, but the ever ensuing power struggles. As member's, they may have been fun to be with, as Admins and Mods, they were not. Just my personal observation, and not intended as a flame. But that was why they no longer particpate at this time. I, too, would like to see any of the old crew back as members only, like the rest of us. So they can rejoin the fun we have here and at events. Speaking of events, ThunderIsle was my favorite memory. The deer on location that ruled the premises, and the convoy thru the gates (remember Bubba...and the white Corvette), and Atlanta Road Course. AWESOME!!!!!!

My favorite memory from Thunder Isle was the performance by Elvis!!! A show never to be forgotten. For those who were not so fortunate to see the performance, Elvis and his family cooked and served the dinner, served drinks during the performance and bussed the tables afterward. Elvis father was the DJ who played the musical 8 tracks that Elvis performed to. Talk about a "roadhouse performance", it was something to experience. And to top that off, I met and shared a pitcher of beer with Sally!!!

Thunder Fever was an extremely well ran event & it was my first Tbird event as well. I have been blow away at the level pf planning and delivery at not only that event, but in each and every one of the events since and I am sure before. Every planner deserves a HUGE High Five!

We have built the best family environment here on TBN and like any family at times some of the members don't see eye to eye and some times there are divisions that occur. It's too bad that those things happen, but when you are dealing with people and their opinions and feelings ... well. I too wish that some of the original members would come back to the nest, but that decision is up to them. We as current active members just need to make sure that they know they are welcome.

              Hey Bob,

What about Barney Fife (sp) at Thunder Fever. I don't think I have ever laughed so much for as long a period of time when he was at that park.

OMG Roger, Remembering Barney made me laugh out loud. I remember calling out "citizens arrest" and Barney came running at me with his ticket pad yelling " Now you've done it - I am going to write you up." He was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It was fun watching each new car pull into the parking lot - wondering "what the...?"

Yeah, there are several names from the past I really miss. People like Ken and Brenda, Joel and Soyna, Kristen and Robin, Tim, and many more. People I consider good friends all.

I have to agree on Barney Fife. I was also thinking of him the other day when I happened to see an old Mayberry show. There are so many great things that we have done and will continue to do on our get togethers.

We've had a bunch of fantastic events, but I'll have to say that Thunderbird Destination in Destin, Florida was my favorite. The Atlanta group planned this event not knowing how it would pan out. We went to this event not knowing what to expect, meeting up on the road with unknown retro T-Bird owners to caravan to our destination, and then having one hell of a weekend. Every now and then we will pull out the video that TBirdTim made just to relive that weekend. We still see many, many of our friends from that first event.

I was thinking about Ken the other day. Wonder how he's doing as he had some health issues. Hopes he's doing good.
