Re: Stainless Steel Thunderbird ...
An old friend of mine was a Senior V-P with Allegeney-Ludlum (after many years of coming up thru the chairs) and used a couple of these cars in his son's wedding in Pittsburgh. It was great to see them out (even though it was raining and the tops were up). He said he was a nervous wreck till they were back in storage.
I passed the article along to him (he doesn't have a T-bird) and will relay any rememberances he may have. WLW (PS He's retired now - so I doubt that he has access any more)

Re: Stainless Steel Thunderbird ...
From what I understand, these are all in private collections now. Back in 1984 Allegeney-Ludlum brought all three vehicles (one Lincoln, one Bird, and one Ford) out to our Regional convention, held at the Harbour Castle Hilton, here in Toronto. The Lincoln pulled a trailor with the Ford on the trailor and the Bird also driven. What a beautiful sight and addition to our show. Have some pictures here someplace that I could try to find.

Re: Stainless Steel Thunderbird ...
Back in the late 50's,60's and 70's we had a steel company "Edge Comb Steel" if I remember correctly in York,Pa.. They had a fleet of trucks that had all stainless steel body's. They were always a big hit when towing floats in any parades. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHEREVisit the TBN Store

Re: Stainless Steel Thunderbird ...
The only privately owned 1936 was just up for auction a few months ago. It got bid
up to $550,000 but did not meet reserve. I was watching this auction and the owner a
gentleman I would say in his eighties had a few words to say when pressured to remove
the reserve. I can't remember what he said but it was a touching little speech. The sad
part is when he passes his heirs will jump all over that half million plus.
