    Re: First Chat

To each their own but as for myself, if it doesn't fit in the trunk, I probably don't need it.

I can't really envision driving down the road with my Thunderbird looking like a pack mule with luggage tied down.

        Re: First Chat

        Questions answered except..............
Who is the maker of this luggage?
For those of us that are not in the same area of a Menards Home Store, it would be good to know who the who is, then may be we too could find this great fitting luggage either on-line or locally.

        Who makes this stuff?

I think someone should really load one of these racks up and give it a good test run to see how it holds up with an average load at 70 or 80 MPH for a couple hours at a time. From the looks of those bags there is going to be alot of wind resistance at those speeds. It's also going to probably effect the gas mileage too. Especially with the top down. I would think some type of aerodynamic plastic carrier that would fit on it might work better, but it sure would be a lot uglier. Leroy

            Re: First Chat

If gas milage is a worry why have the Bird in the first place? But that is a whole nother can of worms that should remain closed.

Besides loading up those bag with "70-80 lbs." is not what Thunderbird Concepts declared the weight max was. If I recall it was said to be 50lbs.

Since you did not purchase one I don't see why you are challenging those you have.

LeRoy, you and I are alot a like "Devil's Advocate" I like that. That's what this is all about. Everyone is looking for info and everyone is giving feedback. I started this thread by saying it was my turn to stir the pot. Well,

Back to the luggage. The only name on the boxes is Xtreme Garage. Menards offers a three year warranty with reciept. Menards is a midwest area store. If any of you are NASCAR fans, you know the name Paul Menard. He is the son of the owner and drives the no 98 Ford Fusion for Yates Racing in the cup series. Check their website to see if these can be ordered online.

Greg, (BirdsandBugs) I've said several times that I'm a big fan of the old show Route 66. That Vette should have been a T-Bird. I liked the look that Todd and Buz had with all their worldly belongings tied to that rack. Personal opinion.

Mike, You're right! Aaron did say the weight limit was 50 lbs. And I questioned that becuase he says you can haul a flat tire on it. Also you're right, I haven't bought one yet. I'm waiting to hear all the reviews from you guys that have them as to how well they work. I don't think they've been put to the test yet. Also I was refering to the wind resistance of the luggage at 70 or 80 Miles Per Hour, not 70 or 80 pounds loaded on the rack. Good Luck, I hope the rack works out well for you. Leroy
