History repeats itself with the last '05 t-bird??

I'm a new member ('04 Merlot w/sand) retired and enjoying the Golden years. Yesterday I read a newspaper article on the '09 Corvette (I had 6 mostly midyear Stingrays) and the statement was made "the Corvette is the only 2-seater sportscar, V-8 currently made in America". I reflected on that, and concluded that when Ford ended the T-bird in 2005 that setup the Corvette AGAIN (as when Ford went to the four seater in 1958?) as the last true 2 seater, V-8
American sportscar. (The AMX and others did appear for short durations...)
So, in conclusion, this made me look at my T-bird in another appreciative light. The Bird in my garage is another piece of American automotive history....another passing. I know I will reflect on this more as I drive my relaxed, elegant elderly statesman onto the freeway entrance ramp. I will enjoy it more for what it is and the statement it conveys to the other road barrons out there.

Tom, why don't you join us at the TBN event (Carolina Battleship Thunder) at the end of April in Wilmington, NC. You're not but 4 hours away.

Tom, you hit the nail on the head. When the T-Bird was released it bested the Vette. GM came close to ending it. It didn't happen. Consumer input said a 4 seater was needed. The rest is history.
