Re: How do I love my Thunderbird?

She's parked in a safe place in my garage with a car cover so she doesn't get dusty. Occasionally, I take the cover off and just sit in the garage and look at her. She doesn't go out in the rain, snow, or anytime at which there may be salt on the roads. I once got brave and drove her to North Carolina (about 2 hours away) for an overnight trip, and it rained on her overnight. I cried. While parked at the Biltmore winery, a stupid, stupid man came up beside her, pressed his hands on her top, and looked in the window. Of course she was parked where I could see her the entire time, and I pressed the panic button. Stupid, stupid man walked away quickly. Sigh. I love this car.

        note to Barbara:
The only cops problem I have had is with one who hides in a speed trap on a twisty part of Palos Verdes Drive and spoils what would be a fun 60 mph scoot. The original owner had two of those other kind of cops replaced under warranty about 25,000 miles ago and i'm not worrying about them either. But thanks for your concern ... Jon

Have had mine six months, has sat on my parents car port covered most of the winter. My dad who is 85 loves the car as much as I do. Drove it yesterday with the top down, man why would anybody keep a hard top on in the summer. Best ride in a rag top ever, low wind, quite, smooth and I have owned three other rag tops a 64 falcon, 65 mustang, 71 MG midget. I think it looks just as good with the soft top up as with it down, the only rag top I fell that way about, most only look good with the top down. I do catch myself staring at it all the time. Man God's been good to me.

Still have the hardtop on but planning an excursion today anyway and can't wait. It'll be the first substantial drive with the Borlas. I've told folks, its the most fun car I've had since my MGA. I look at it too - and so do a lot of other folks.

Wow, just went over the 200 posts mark!

Dennis, I'm with you. I bought my 2002 last may. It's become my daily driver. The other family car is a 1996 T-Bird. I can't think of any other cars that have been this much fun. To quote James Bond "You only live twice, once when you're born and after you buy your T-Birds"

I feel the same way... I leased a SL500 v12 for 2 years and I would pick my Bird over that overrated vehicle any day. My husband said that I love that car more then him...Thats why I love TBN... we are all in love with the the same thing...Our Birds
