Probably before you got on here, Barbara. Sam had his 04 stolen from under his carport. never found that I'm aware of.

Actually, Sam's Red Bird was recovered from a parking lot, in the rear of a fast food restaurant in clean, showroom condition. Sam had already collected the insurance, so the Bird wasn't legally his anymore.

As I recall, the Bird was found in W TX, a couple of hundred miles away.

Paula, you can certainly tell your friend Leon that he has the TBN membership hoping that his precious car is found, and found in good shape. I really hope this story has a happy ending for Leon. And no place is safe... several years ago, my wife's car was stolen while she was at church !!! Even the police were speechless.....

Wasn't Sam's red hardtop the first TBN hardtop relay?

Never heard that, Sally. I've had his listed as stolen ever since he reported here. will remove that now. That car and hardtop have a slightly colorful history now.

Boy, Des Moines has become a rough place. I was born and raised there and it was nothing like that when I left in 1968, only 40 years ago!!??

Let me know what area in Des Moines. I will talk to my cousin and other friends on the DMPD. I will also run my contacts in Clive, Windsor Hieghts and West Des Moines dept's.

This makes me nervous I just took the top off and was going to put insurance back on mine tomorrow morning and driver her to work! I will keep my eye out as well. Not that many T-birds here in Des Moines area

                          Not exactly.

A chop shop just pulled their tow truck into her yard and towed the car away.

I hope the vehicle is recovered intact. I wouldn't know how to react if mine disappeared. I mean, I wouldn't know how to react other than with a shotgun, a shovel, and the many miles of swamps along the Saluda River.

If the perpetrators are found, I propose we do a coast-to-coast "Thunderbird Thief Relay." I guarantee being bent into the glovebox-sized trunk for a week will cure them (if they survive) of any desire to ever even see a Thunderbird, let alone take one.
