Whisper White vs. Performance White on a Tbird Blue

Which white looks better on a hardtop for an '02 TBird blue body? Especially to go with a set of wide whitewalls..... I don't want to start a war of the whites, just hear about individual preferences. I have done a quick search on white tops, but I am having difficulty telling the "tint" difference between the two whites... thanks.....Mark

Mark, I don't think anyone has put the two combos side by side to see the differences, or if one looks "better" than the other.

thanks, Dot... I was hoping there was someone who had a photo or saw the two colours side by side...... I have been going a little crazy with mods over the winter, and now that I will soon install my whitewalls, I can't get the blue/white combo out of my mind... but then there is something called a budget.... talk about a "domino" effect when you modify one thing......

FWIW, you'll most likely find it much easier to get Performance White. As far as I recall, Performance White was the only white available for optional tops throughout production. I think the 007 birds also had Performance White tops. Whisper White tops only came on Whisper White T-Birds, and could not be purchased separately. And most who got the Whisper White top would probably still have them. So... my guess is that there would be far more Performance White tops available than Whisper White.

Always keeping in mind that I could be wrong (in which case Dot will know the real scoop).

Either one will look great on your Thunderbird Blue, IMO.

Dare to be different. Go with dark turquois or Marinor turquois. Oh yea, forgot about matching up the tires with white but that combo did look awsome in '64.

Performance is a brighter white.

Don't think you would notice the difference unless they are side by side.

I have to disagree with Tex. I would think that there were more Whisper white birds with whisper white tops made than 2 color birds with performance tops. Dot?

I have a Whisper White top for my 02 blue, love the look. The difference in the whites is subtle, I'd describe the Performance White as a cool color, the Whisper White as a warm color. Both look great on the 02 blue, you'd be happy with either. I bought my top from a used car dealer in York PA, he had bought a bunch of tops from a car rental place that rented the Birds out as convertibles, and had no use for the tops.

Whisper White paint code is ALBZ-19500-7018A with a touch-up two digit code of W-5 and the Performance White or Perfect White is paint code ALBZ-19500-1208A and no touch-up or two digit code that I could find? So maybe they're close enough to use the same touch-up paint? Leroy

definitely not close enough to use the same touch up paint. It would be like my using inspiration yellow touch up on my Inca - not a match or even close.

btw - whisper white 2 digit Ford code is W5
performance white 2 digit Ford code is WT

When I had one of my red tops painted white last year, I wanted Performance White, but the paint shop said they could not match the color (and I did give them all the paint codes), so we went with Whisper White instead. I love it, and I don't think you'd really be able to tell for sure the difference just by looking at pictures of each. I think you'd have to actually see them side by side. Either way, it looks good with my new Medium Steel Blue, so I would think it would also look great with the TBird Blue.

I checked Aarons list of touch-up paints and codes and he doesn't have a touch-up paint or two letter code for Perfomance White. But Dupli-Color does and have two different paints. Leroy

Took it right off of the Ford color charts - and perfect white is the normal Ford name for it.

I found it also and also found that in some cases W5 is listed as Ceramic White. One vender I found that had a sample chart of the colors showed that the Whisper White was like a light grey compared to the Performance White. Leroy
